ROLE OVERVIEW
This role is in the Global Merchandise Services (GMS) team which is the largest segment of the global tms business. GMS provides cutting edge manufacturing and marketing services that enable brands to make authentic and lasting connections with their customers through merchandise. The Sr. Director of Merchandise Category Growth reports to the Vice President, Growth Platforms.
The leader in this role is responsible for being the driving force behind the strategy and execution needed to grow the category beyond our existing merchandise customers. This leader will be accountable for driving overall merchandise growth and will enjoy broad latitude and flexibility to determine how best to achieve and execute against agreed upon targets. To be successful, this leader must be highly self-motivated, combining deep category knowledge, strategic thinking, executive influence and past sales/account management experience to set an aspirational yet achievable path forward.

Responsibilities:
- Leverage industry knowledge, experience, and subject matter expertise to grow the merchandise business with new brands/customers
- Implement a process-based approach to identifying, targeting and closing prospective customers
- Identify new revenue channels and drive profitable growth strategies based on market potential; gain alignment with the senior leadership team and deploy company resources accordingly
- Negotiate complex transactions, including partnerships, licensing agreements, joint ventures, alliances, sponsorship agreements, etc.
- Identify gaps and opportunities in the product offering and pursue new products through internal development and/or strategic supplier relationships
- Implement process for measuring and reporting KPIs with business leaders to ensure goals are achieved

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years of experience in business development, sales or account management within the Consumer Goods/Retail industry (required)
- Deep understanding of premium retail brands and what makes their customers tick
- Ability to grasp and be conversational about the technical, manufacturing and marketing techniques that differentiate our offering
- Strong existing industry relationships/client network preferred
- Strong executive-level verbal and written communication skills; ability to formulate and deliver insights around complex business problems in a thoughtful and persuasive manner
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with exceptional ability to create structured quantitative and qualitative analyses
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous high-priority projects
- Ability and comfort “managing up” including making recommendations and escalating concerns
- Willingness and ability to travel 20-40% of the time (U.S. domestic)
