What Are We Doing?

Our foundational science harnesses the ability to create and then direct the differentiation of universal pluripotent stem cells into authentic, functional cells that can be used as allogeneic cellular therapies to treat a broad array of diseases. We can also further engineer these cells, enabling them to produce enzymes, antibodies, and other proteins for additional therapeutic benefit.

This opportunity is based in either New York City, NY, or Cambridge, MA, and entails the role of Sr. Director, Neurodegeneration, reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer. This is not a remote opportunity.

The ideal candidate will possess a profound passion and a proven track record in advancing groundbreaking modalities for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, including frontotemporal dementia, tauopathies, and Alzheimer's Disease. In this role, you will bolster our cell+gene pipeline by leading a multidisciplinary team dedicated to developing BlueRock's myeloid cell therapy platform (MG0x). Your responsibilities will encompass aligning the strategies of various workstreams and championing the delivery of Investigational New Drug (IND) candidates. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of BlueRock's MG0x platform in accordance with the portfolio strategy, while driving program strategy, vision, and purpose to create a high-value product.
  • Make strategic and quality decisions for the program in collaboration with the Program Review Committee.
  • Be responsible for crafting an innovative product profile and guiding decision-making by formulating outcome scenarios at critical data inflection points.
  • Hold accountability for assembling, nurturing, and maintaining a motivated and high-performing program team, ensuring team members meet their deliverables.
  • Provide relevant input into other program teams were needed.
  • Establish and cultivate cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Build, expand, and sustain key relationships with global leaders in the neurodegeneration, cell and gene therapy, and translational medicine fields, including BlueRock Advisory Boards.
  • Provide oversight to collaborative programs and maintain strong relationships with investigators and key opinion leaders in the field, both nationally and internationally.

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD or PharmD, or PhD in Neuroscience, Stem Cell Biology, coupled with relevant professional experience in neuroscience drug development.
  • A minimum of 10 years of pertinent full-time industry or academic laboratory experience.
  • Profound understanding of preclinical and translational research, as well as early clinical development.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, both in interpersonal relationships and organizational management, within a highly matrixed environment. Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities to drive peak performance.
  • The ability to influence decision-making across all organizational levels, complemented by robust stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and negotiation abilities, along with prior experience in leading organizations and guiding individuals through transformative changes.
  • An innovative, results-oriented, solutions-focused individual with critical thinking skills.
