Sr. Director of Content Marketing
Job Description
Summary:
SoCal News Group is looking for a proven Sr. Director of Content Marketing to lead Skyline, the content marketing division of Southern California News Group. The Sr. Director of Content Marketing will have experience leading advertising sales with an emphasis on all aspects of content marketing solutions including branded content, custom content, influencer marketing, social media marketing, and experiential marketing. Not only will you be responsible for advertising sales efforts aligned around content marketing campaigns, you will also drive revenue strategies, product roadmap, and operational efficiencies for the content marketing division.
What you will do:
- Lead strategic revenue planning of all branded content, custom content, creative solutions, influencer and experiential product strategies in collaboration with our SVP of Advertising in an effort to meet revenue, profitability and other performance metrics
- Own the planning and identity of the branded content channels across our sites and social pages; defining voices, personas, vibes, audience targets, etc. Drive content strategies and planning to continue growth in audiences and monetization streams through branded or influencer campaigns
- Develop branded and custom content ideas, formats and channel solutions, materials, and go to market messaging for demand generation, sales and any business development efforts
- Oversee a team of sales strategists that drive revenue through both individual and collaborative sales efforts; focusing on growth of revenue, growth of market share, vertical expansion, and growth of new product lines for content marketing campaigns
- Participate in sales pitches through presenting, strategizing, assisting with client discovery, development of presentations, reports or analysis, ideation, negotiations, providing proposals and recommendations, and closing
- Ownership of all related workflow and operating procedures tied to sales support and execution of content marketing campaigns, collaborates with operations, and provides post sales support to internal and external clients through reporting and analysis for upsell and retention
- Source, secure and structure affiliate revenue partnerships and opportunities that drive additional monetization streams across owned platforms and channels
- Lead strategic direction and drive Content Marketing divisional road map with data-driven decisions; track, report, analyze, optimize and forecast to drive long term strategic direction for the Content Marketing division
- Ownership of division revenue and expense forecasting, budgeting, gap planning, daily/weekly/monthly flashing by product and revenue lines
- Stay ahead of industry trends and share knowledge within the teams on emerging and upcoming formats and monetization opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
- 7+ years of experience in digital media or advertising sales and 2+ years of experience in a strategic role focused on Content Marketing, Branded Content, and Custom Content
- Have a solid understanding of client sales cycle and pipeline management
- 3+ years minimum as a highly effective senior leader managing 5+ direct reports; proven track record in building, recruiting, and retaining high performing talent, development, ownership and execution of divisional strategies and tactics, and experience managing towards hitting multimillion dollar revenue targets annually
- Proficient and advanced working knowledge of audience and digital media performance metrics; understanding of how to develop reports and analyze data and optimize content across multiple platforms and campaigns to garner results
- Proficient and advanced working knowledge of online and offline media formats and executions that align with content distribution types, audience reach, engagement needs, brand/messaging activation formats
- Familiarity with Salesforce CRM along with building reports and dashboards
- A pulse on the latest trends in content marketing and digital marketing strategies
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables
- Possess a high level of critical thinking skills, project management skills, and communication skills
This is a hybrid opportunity with regular in office expectations in Irvine, CA.
The annual salary is $145,000. This position is eligible for incentive compensation (commission), and cell phone reimbursement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
