Pluralsight's technology skills development platform is a collection of a number of specific technology skills. The Developer and Design & Management Skills team is a business inside of the larger Skills business focused primarily on helping the individual learner to achieve their learning outcomes. This responsibility includes setting a content strategy, designing the curriculum, acquiring top authors, being responsible for production workflows, ensuring content effectiveness, and helping to shape GTM messaging.
The Sr. Director of Developer and Management & Design Skills is a hardworking leader who cares deeply about technology education. They define the content vision and chart a course of action for achieving learning outcomes for the respective technology domain. It is core to the role to have a extensive knowledge of the technical domain, and the ability to speak the language of the technologist in the particular domain. This leader is responsible for communicating the domain's story to Pluralsight customers and colleagues alike. Additionally they are responsible for driving effective skill development and maintaining a winning offering for our buyers.

What you'll own:
Content Strategy
  • The domain level vision and strategy that define where we play and how we win.
  • Domain content roadmaps and sub-domain content roadmaps that communicate to the expert network, customers and internal partners, the direction of the domain's content on our platform.
  • Directing curriculum managers/designers/experts in building instructional plans that improve content coverage and freshness.
  • Success of content in achieving desired outcomes with learners and buyers.
  • Management of author bench for breadth, depth, workload, and quality.
  • Continual improvement and innovation of team methodologies and practices.
  • Evaluation of new and emerging technologies as potential new opportunities for development.

Leadership
  • Define results aligned to business strategy and targets. Accountable for meeting and exceeding those results.
  • Leads with inspiration and an ability to share a vision that motivates others.
  • Align teams of curriculum designers, project coordinators, and content producers to work in lockstep with internal and external authors and experts to build high-quality content across a variety of mediums.
  • Ensure content opportunities are effectively assigned to qualified authors in a way that results in balanced author workloads, and best content outcome for our learners and customers.
  • Empower internal authors as content creators and company evangelists for the topical domains.
  • Coach and cultivate the next level of leadership.
  • Attract, run and lead talent.

Strategic Business Development and Engagement
  • Participate in meetings with customers and represent Pluralsight in a manner that boosts customer confidence, and desire to buy.
  • Partner with Operations Analytics to build robust data streams and reports with useful insights that enable data-driven content strategy development.
  • Engage with the Partnerships team, as appropriate, to source, evaluate, and build strategic content partnerships that enhance and extend Pluralsight's content offerings.

Cross Team Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with the fellow [Domain] Skills leaders in effort to agree on standard methodologies for author compensation, content and author acquisition, curriculum design, and other processes.
  • Work as part of the Skills Content Development leadership team to define and achieve against shared business critical metrics.
  • Work embedded with product marketing and sales enablement to co-create measurably successful go-to-market narrative and strategy.
  • Partner with Sr. Director of Learning Sciences on the research and development of new instructional approaches as well as content mediums and styles to deliver learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Author Experience and Curriculum Tooling to co-create a vision for the future of workflow tooling and Author Home.
  • Regularly report to SVP of Skills Content Development to ensure effective and efficient fulfillment of content strategy and attainment of desired outcomes.

Experience you'll need:
  • Experience leading leaders.
  • Experience building and leading geographically distributed teams comprised of differing roles and skills.
  • Deep understanding of software development and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of product development practices.
  • Bachelor or graduate degree in a computer technical field, or equivalent proven experience.
  • Presentation experience at the executive or conference level.
  • Technical education, instructor-led training, eLearning, or book publishing.
  • Experience setting and implementing data-driven content strategies.
  • Go-to-market messaging experience for a product or persona.
  • Demonstrated understanding of instructional design methodologies, guiding through storytelling, and asynchronous instructional methodologies.
