The Opportunity

You will be responsible for all aspects of engineering, including development, 24/7 operation, security, and compliance across two of our business units; Adobe Stock; our world-class, high-volume marketplace of over 300 million creative assets, and Behance; our industry-defining community over 30 million creative professionals. You will lead a hard-working engineering team at the forefront of delivering Adobe's "Creativity for All" mission that draws on our decades of experience working with the creative community.

Adobe Stock aspires to be the largest marketplace for creative assets and Behance aspires to be the largest source of creative inspiration and creative professionals, in the world. Additionally, critical to our strategy is being able bring our creative community and the invaluable assets that they create, to the millions of users who move their businesses forward with our industry-leading products like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and now Adobe Express, while in the context of creation.

In this role, you will recruit, develop, manage, and lead a globally dispersed engineering team, work with Product, Go-to-Market, and internal and external ecosystems, to build and deliver our vision to the masses. We are looking for someone who leads with a deep belief in culture first, has the highest standards for excellence, is technical and has deep experience in scalability and reliability, is driven by and has a desire to deeply understand the business strategy, and is creative at heart, where ultimately they thrive on redefining categories.

Our expectations are that this leader can, through their leadership, clear communication skills, can-do attitude, resourcefulness, and collaborative approach, work effectively with their team and other product teams across Adobe. The goal is to deliver on the short and long-term strategy and roadmap.

You will be responsible for maintaining a high bar of quality, stability, and performance across mobile and web platforms as we continue to scale users and revenue. This is a role with significant executive visibility. The successful candidate will need to implement the high-level business strategy for the platform by integrating with other creative tools in Creative Cloud. We are a team with the energy, pace, and dynamic of a start-up, while having the larger support of Adobe, to go bigger and do ambitious things!

What you'll do

  • Develop a long-term scalable architectural direction, with a focus on system design, team velocity, and user experience, the directly connects to the business strategy
  • Work across the executive team to deliver on Adobe's business goals and create tight collaboration and coordination between matrixed, coss-functional teams
  • Cultivate an engineering culture that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
  • Manage trade-offs, make decisions, and ensure alignment in the face of disagreement between senior engineers and architects
  • Mentor engineers across the organization in leadership, management, and engineering standard methodologies

What you need to succeed

  • Extensive industry expertise; track record of running high volume websites and services at scale
  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in people management and experience leading a large and globally distributed team
  • Experience managing budgets, procurement, and relationships with third party service providers
  • Experience building and driving web application development, infrastructure, and operations
  • Experience developing cloud-based systems using AWS, Node.js, PHP, and PostgreSQL
  • Passion for delivering products with a high bar for quality, time to market, and user experience
  • Experience with search technologies, taxonomies, and data-inferred decision making
  • Strong ability to collaborate with a bias toward partnership in a matrixed environment
  • A sense of urgency and the ability to act quickly and decisively
  • Desire to provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring
  • Lead by example by recruiting, hiring, and retaining high-performing individuals with an eye towards diversity

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $180,500 -- $387,200 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.

At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
