Sr. Director, Operations
Job Description
The Sr. Dir. Operations is responsible for the overall operation and performance of six manufacturing and foundry facilities, inclusive of efficiency, cost control, employee safety, employee relations, quality of products, and timely delivery of products to customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for manufacturing and supply chain activities across 6 facilities
- Engage manufacturing personnel to create and implement "best practice" manufacturing vision, strategies, policies, and procedures to drive business results through efficiency, cost, quality, and delivery to compete and win in the marketplace
- Evaluate challenges faced by the business and take action, mitigate risk and develop opportunities
- Contribute to the overall business strategy and annual budget process.
- Lead, develop and implement cost, quality, and productivity programs throughout areas of responsibility supported by Lean Six Sigma and active plant floor management
- Partner with product development team to manage accurate and on time introduction of new products
- Implement and maximize use of ERP system as central location of data and reporting
- Ensure compliance to environmental and health and safety regulations; create an environment of safe workplace where people are highly valued
- Establish strategy for staff to ensure achievement of overall business objectives. Work with the manufacturing team to translate site strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives
- Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement and cost reductions; create succession plan and support growth of future leaders
- Work collaboratively, engage and negotiate with key stakeholders to facility delivery of manufacturing strategy
- Provide consistency between sites, while understanding key, unique differences.
- Identify strategic investments in the manufacturing environment to improve productivity based on ROI
- Work with Value Stream leaders to prepare annual manufacturing budgets and forecasts, including capital expenditure proposals
Required Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. degree in business, engineering, operations, or marketing; or the equivalent
- Extensive experience in Operations; Manufacturing; Logistics; Six Sigma/ Lean Methodologies
- Broad leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent human relations skills for customer and associate interaction
- Thorough understanding of financial measurement and analysis and metrics including P& L
- Able to effectively lead change and process improvement
- Able to function and lead effectually in a team environment
- A straightforward, open communicator who is team oriented
- Minimum 15 years' experience in manufacturing management positions within a progressive company environment (Foundry and organized labor environment preferred)
- Multisite management experienced required
- Strong leadership and employee development skills, coaching and delegation, employee relations and communications.
- Solid understanding and demonstrated experience in driving lean manufacturing methodology
- Demonstrated experience of driving process improvements, process turnaround experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Foundry management (strongly preferred)
- Lean applied experiences
- Experience in an organized labor environment
