What We Need:
The senior environmental, health and safety "Senior EHS" Engineer will support the site's environmental, health and safety functions for one or more industrial manufacturing locations. This role will have a dual focus on both Health Safety programs and Environmental Engineering. This is an opportunity to grow your career in an organization with best-in-class EHS programs.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Responsible for knowledge and understanding of EHS regulations affecting the company and developing and implementing programs to meet those requirements.
- Work with site management to provide long-range guidance on regulations affecting the facility and develop technical solutions to ensure continual, systematic compliance
- Create and implement effective and sustained safety programs and procedures; conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis; perform ergonomic evaluations; conducting industrial hygiene monitoring, develop solutions to reduce industrial exposure to hazards; and identify opportunities and implement solutions to continuously improve safety and environmental practices
- Develop, implement and maintain site specific EHS and risk management programs; such as Management of Change, Chemical Safety, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, LOTO, Hazardous Waste, Machine Safety, Contractor Safety, Emergency Response, etc.
- Review, recommend and implement facility or equipment engineering design changes to meet regulatory requirements.
- Owns environmental compliance and improvements including but not limited to; storm water pollution prevention, air permit management, hazardous waste management, DOT compliance, emissions monitoring testing, underground storage tanks management, etc.
- Provide company EHS management systems support including: internal auditing, document management, corrective actions, procedure development, etc.
- Participate in management of plant environmental, health safety programs including development of programs, procedures, training, risk assessments, incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Provide training content, classroom style training as well as effective tracking and documentation of employee understanding, for varied workforce audiences
- Ensure regulatory reporting is completed for local, state and federal agencies
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local and Corporate EHS regulations, requirements and permitting.
- Serves as site contact for regulatory and business system visits/audits such as OSHA, DNR, Fire Dept, ISO14001, etc.
- Will interact with Process Safety Management (PSM) practices in select areas of the facility.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:
- Bachelor's Degree in EHS, Industrial/Occupational Health Safety, Environmental Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a safety or EHS engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience developing safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding and hazard communication programs
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with facility permitting and communications with government agencies and other third parties
- Ability to effectively communicate with, present to, and collaborate with employees at all levels
- Experience and knowledge related to chemical safety, process safety management, and air permitting
- Ability to travel up to 15%
- High level of attention to detail
Desired Knowledge, Skills Abilities
- Professional certification such as PE, CHMM, CIH, ASP or CSP
- 5+ years of experience working in a safety or EHS engineering role in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of experience developing safety programs such as LOTO, machine guarding and hazard communication programs
- Experience in lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement systems (ISO 14001, etc)
- Experience managing other EHS employees.
