Senior EHS Specialist
Description
Administer and implement Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and procedures as directed. Provide support to BD Baltimore personnel in order to maintain compliance with facility/corporate EHS policies, agency regulations and best management practices. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data to select appropriate methods and techniques for obtaining satisfactory solutions are necessary. Perform routine task with general instructions and detailed instructions on new projects and assignments. Exercise sound and consistent judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. This individual will require minimal direction and will add new skills as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of EHS and sustainability development programs.
- Monitor waste services for the campus to include hazardous waste, Biohazardous waste, Solid waste, Universal waste, etc.
- Perform and implement all regulatory reporting as required by OSHA, EPA, MDE, MOSH.
- Adhere to and submit regulatory reports as required to include but not limited to: Hazardous Waste Biennial reports, SARA TIER II reports, SARA Form R (TRI Report), Wastewater Discharge reports.
- Adhere to and submit all air, wastewater, stormwater, RCRA compliance permits & reports and recordkeeping requirements.
- Conduct all environmental related training, inspections, reporting and recordkeeping as required by federal, state and local authorities.
- Provide guidance, training and technical support to operations, associates, maintenance, engineering and other functions as necessary.
- Participate in incident investigations for all work-related injuries and illnesses as necessary.
- Ensure EH&S policies are followed. Assist the team in the development, review and updating of written safety and environmental programs, including SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Discuss and document pertinent EHS topics at staff meetings.
- Participate and help develop monthly topics and agenda in monthly departmental EHS safety committee meetings.
- Participate in audits, trainings, JHAs, Risk Assessments as needed.
- Identify and mitigate EHS risk on site.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications
- Familiar with OSHA, MOSH, EPA, and ANSI regulations or have increasing levels of experience.
- Demonstrate ability to organize work and establish priorities.
- Effective customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple task and time pressures.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Effective analytical problem-solving skills.
- Must be proficient working with PC's. Requires good command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet.
Education and Experience
- Requires a BS/BA in Safety or a related discipline and 1-3 years related experience working in a laboratory, research or manufacturing environment with Health, Safety and or Environmental responsibilities.
