Sr. Electric Drive System Design Engineer
Job Description
Key responsibilities
- Passion for engineering with strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering
- Able to break down problem to most basic elements
- Comfortable working with ambiguous requirements
- Passion for electric mobility and traction electric drive system engineering
- Self-driven attitude with curiosity toward engineering next generation propulsion systems
- Creative thinking in new concept ideation
- Strong Design engineering skills to mechanize the electric drive system.
- Driveline design: Gear train, differential, coupling, shafts, clutch's
- Power flow architecture development
- Ex: Coaxial, Layshaft, Single / Multi speed, Multi motor drives etc.
- Electric drive axle lubrication and thermal management
- Materials, fluids, design concepts, energy balancing
- Physics of system integration (Inverter-Motor-Driveline)
- Enhance mechanical and electrical performance
- Harness synergies between functional components
- High voltage electrical component integration and adoption
- Isolation, EMI, EMC, Creepage and Clearance.
- System optimized for low conduction loss
- Design for manufacturing
- Documentation and tracking
- Excellent analytical skills
- Product engineering attribute development and KPI definition
- Benchmarking and identify product differentiator
- New concept ideation and simulation
- Design - prototype - testing
- Be able to take the design from Computer - Prototype - Test validation
- Excellent understanding of GD&T
- Experience in managing suppliers
- Be able to understand design standards and methods in product design
- Be able to take the design from Computer - Prototype - Test validation
- Good understanding of
- E-Motors, Inverters, Drivetrain, Control software, OBC, DC/DC converters and system integration methods
- Electromechanical system integration and strong know-how of thermal management
- Excellent understanding of the electric drive system targets from the point of vehicle ecosystem
- Working knowledge in ICE, Hybrid and EV system architecture design
- Must be able to lead technically and provide guidance
- Be able to train and mentor new hires and interns
- Must be able to develop innovative solutions and application-specific design
- Knowledge of vehicle propulsion and performance calibration
- Vehicle testing and calibration for electric system efficiency optimization
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to articulate complex engineering problems.
- Establish relationships with global teams and customers
- Must be able to work in a team environment in a cross functional discipline
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Candidates with Master's or PhD degree preferred
- Experience in automotive industry is a plus (4-5 years)
- Experience in electric drive system design is highly preferred
- Knowledge of design and engineering tool software in E-Mobility a must
- CAD (NX, CREO, AUTOCAD, SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, ANSYS)
- MASTA, VISIO, MS Office, MATLAB SIMULINK, SIMSCAPE, JIRA
