Sr. Employment Counsel

Community Health Systems is one of the nation's leading healthcare providers. CHS operates 71 acute-care hospitals and more than 1,000 other sites of care, including physician practices, urgent care centers, freestanding emergency departments, occupational medicine clinics, imaging centers, cancer centers and ambulatory surgery centers.

Summary: Advises the Company's clients concerning their legal rights, obligations and privileges. Direct report to the Vice President and Senior Employment Counsel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• The Candidate must have significant experience in labor and employment law. At least ten years of private sector employment law experience handling all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, including the following:
  • Title VII and other EEO laws
  • FMLA
  • FLSA
  • Employment agreements, both individual and collective
  • Supervisory Training
  • Employee Benefits
• Candidate must have the ability to provide day to day employment advice to Company clients and any affiliated medical facilities including hospitals, physician groups, etc.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a Tennessee law license or pass the Tennessee Bar Examination and obtain a Tennessee law license required.

Experience:

This significant role requires at least 10 years' private sector labor and employment litigation and practice experience. Experience with health care facilities is preferred, as is experience with large, multi- state clients.
