Senior Systems Engineer, ServiceNow Platform

Working on many different aspects of the user experience, a Systems Engineer research and resolve platform issues, reports and dashboards, partner with internal users on their requests, perform auditing tasks, and help build roadmaps for platform evolution.
What you will do - Essential Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your fellow Associates to understand the real-life challenges of internal customers and discover what they need to support the Business and Technology to deliver iconic customer experiences.
- Perform audit tasks and communicate the audit findings/results.
- Actively research new and enhanced functionality on the supported platforms, identify opportunities and ROI to invest in these functionalities, and present to key stakeholders to gain buy-in.
- Working with limited guidance, market your innovative ideas internally and evolve them according to feedback and critique within an agile environment.
- Stay on top of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve what we do and ensure our user experience is the best it can be.
Purpose of the role
The Senior Systems Engineer will participate in the ongoing development of the platform and functionality to ensure the platform is on the latest or N-1 versions. Working collaboratively and creatively as part of a close-knit team, you will be part of the development process from end to end, consulting users, carrying out experiments, tackling complex business problems and implementing new capabilities.
The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for executing on the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, governance, and improvement of the platform, and identifying experience-enhancing solutions. This role will train and mentor peers within the team and Technology partners on platform capabilities, functionality, and best practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field; or equivalent alternative.
- education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.
- Development experience on the ServiceNow platform.
- Working knowledge of Configuration Management, Common Service data Model, Discovery, and DevOps practices.
- 3 years of ServiceNow experience.
- Basic Knowledge of API design and integration is preferred.
- Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- ServiceNow Configurations
- ServiceNow Report and Dashboard creation and maintenance
- ServiceNow Access and Governance best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of ServiceNow experience
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages/platforms such as C#, .NET, Azure,
- cloud-based SaaS, and PaaS solutions is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of relational databases such as MS and SQL server are preferred.

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA CarMax Technology Innovation Center or the Dallas, TX Technology Hub and have a Hybrid work arrangement.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
