We are currently seeking a Sr. Exterior Designer to join our Design Studio team. This is a great opportunity to be a part of the Lucid design story, developing world-class leading designed products. The ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

The Role:

• Create compelling conceptual design proposals, presented with a strong visual communication 
• Develop Exterior designs from a conceptual sketch phase through to production level 
• Lead the design development of sketch to concept modeling, working alongside modelers utilizing 3D software or physical clay modeling
• Collaborate with engineers to produce design solutions that align with the creative vision but also adhere to engineering constraints, ensuring a seamless integration of form and function
• Work closely with CMF and UX designers to create a cohesive and unified vision for the design, considering the opportunities and constraints of the color and materials
• Forge strategic partnerships with engineering, purchasing, craftsmanship, suppliers to execute the original design vision whilst optimized for product quality, cost-effectiveness, and engineering excellence
• Coordinate with the fabrication team to oversee the completion of prototypes ensuring that design intent is realized in physical form.
• Participate in cross-functional strategy, timing, and process discussion as it related to vehicle development

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in production automotive design, experiences in advanced and production design
• Proficient in design software for both 2D sketches to 3D modeling – Photoshop, Alias, Blender, Vred, Ai development
• Strong understanding of the complete design process, technical knowledge of prototyping and manufacturing
• Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships
• Strong drawing and visualization communication skills
• Ability to deliver designs under tight deadlines

Education:

• Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Automotive or Transportation Design, or equivalent

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

· California (Bay Area) - $108,700-$149,490

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
