Job Summary:
As the Sr. Financial Analyst - Marketing, Advertising, & Promotion, you will be expected to build and maintain strong partnerships with the Sales, Marketing, and BU organizations by providing analysis supporting business decisions, participate in sales, marketing, & finance meetings, assist with regular financial performance and forecast reviews, ensure accuracy of all financial results, analysis, and forecasts. You will ensure proper accrual and reporting of Advertising and Promotions and other SG&A discretionary spend, including but not limited to Co-Op Advertising, Accrued Other Advertising, Prepaid Advertising and selling, and marketing department SG&A expenses.
You will prepare monthly journal entries, reviewing and true-up of spend and reconciling accrual accounts and will contribute to the development, launch, and maintenance of the Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) model for Marketing. In this role, you will collaborate with Marketing while leveraging CAC to optimize the marketing spend.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of financial analysis

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, including accrual-based accounting
  • Working knowledge using financial systems, including ERP, data warehouse queries, planning, and reporting tools
  • Good communication skills

Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
  • Master's of Business Administration, CPA, or CMA
  • Strong working knowledge / prior use of SAP, BI, BPC, Power BI, and/or SAP Analytics Cloud

Additional Job Details:
  • Own Advertising & Promotions and Sales & Marketing cost center budgeting and monthly forecasting; coach business partners on purchase order management and ensure expense accruals are booked according to accounting policy on a monthly basis; provide training and support to drive financial acumen across functions
  • Support the annual planning & monthly forecasting processes, which may include providing forecast, budget assumptions and analysis related to customer-specific pricing, promotions, contracts, rebates, and freight programs to BU finance, Sales Ops, and/or Channel Management; ensure plans and forecasts are aligned with strategic direction; facilitate planning/forecasting of strategic initiatives; provide analysis and reporting of variances as well as for customer acquisition (CAC) metric and marketing ROI on working media
  • Report monthly accrual journal entries and reconciliations to ensure appropriate monthly judgements and estimates are booked/accrued and proper reporting by Business Unit, channel, and customer
  • Update documentation related to policies and controls and facilitate compliance by preparing and providing audit requests during internal and year-end audits
  • Develop knowledge in SAP, BI, BPC, and Salesforce; leverage queries and tools that support business analytics; create and maintain business process documentation (as needed) and support continuous improvement
  • Serve as a finance lead of an New Product Development (NPD) project and be responsible for preparing and maintaining the NPD business cases and ensuring NPD process is followed, especially as it relates to projected sales, product cost, CAPEX, and incremental expenses
  • Identify and bring issues and/or concerns to Director, Finance or VP Commercial Finance; collaborate with other departments to resolve issues that arise
