Hunting for bad actors on the internet is an intellectual and technical challenge. We hunt at scale with high-speed web crawling, machine learning, computer vision, petabytes of data, and a global network of sensors.

Rather than being constrained by the structures which make Cloudflare a massively successful business, we are able to leverage them to deliver entirely new tools and products to our customers.
Responsibilities:

• Create the product's subsystems and key components by applying up-to-date expertise in Software Engineering to define, design and create world-class implementations.
• Collaborate with other senior engineers to improve the overall system at the architectural, design, and implementation levels.
• Design and implement features for the product portal. This is a combination of visualizations that educate our users about the threats they face and enables customers to customize the way our product is integrated with their web, email and network infrastructure.
• Work with large scale data systems in both online/streaming and offline/batch fashions.
• Design and implement key features such as new functionality, performance, reliability, or scalability.

Requirements:

• Experience working with large scale Python applications
• Advanced ability to design and implement software systems in Python
• Software development expert who specializes in the design and construction of large-scale multi-tier systems using open-source technologies.
• Experience working with distributed jobs systems.
• Experience with continuous delivery environments and agile methodologies is a plus.
• Good Linux systems knowledge
• Experience (and love) for debugging to ensure the system works in all cases
• Strong systems level programming skills
• Excited by the idea of optimizing complex solutions to general problems that all websites face
• Experience with a continuous integration workflow and using source control (we use git)

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Flask and/or CherryPy.
• Experience with Javascript or Typescript (or a strong desire to learn)
• Experience with a web server / reverse proxy system (NGINX, Apache, Varnish)

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $137,000 - $167,000.

This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
