Job Summary:
This position will work closely with the Head of Internal communications and global HR leaders to translate strategy and vision into compelling and effective communications strategies, messages, and tactics that they can implement and measure.
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SME) in Human Resources to manage the full life cycle of strategic communications in support of global HR programs/initiatives. You will work closely with SMEs from HR sub-groups including Total Rewards (benefits and pay), Talent Management, Recruiting, Diversity & Inclusion, and Employee Relations.
- Research, create, present, and execute strategic communications plans (including content development) in support of HR-related programs to raise awareness, educate, and/or inspire action/participation for Markel employees.
- Provide communications counsel to HR SMEs for smaller/tactical communications needs.
- Partner and collaborate with global HR and communications team on communication efforts and initiatives, as appropriate.
- Develop editorial strategy and content development process for proactive sharing of HR news and updates using a variety of delivery methods.
- Play an integral part on a cross-functional project team in developing and executing an employer brand communications approach to drive employee engagement and support Markel's growth strategy.
- Gather, analyze, and report on usage and engagement data and metrics from communications and learning campaigns and tools.
Qualifications / skills
- HR communication experience and HR communication project management preferred
- 5 to 8+ years' experience in employee communications with emphasis in HR/employee communications, including project management, strategic client engagement and consultation, communication plan development and implementation
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Marketing or related field of study with writing/editing emphasis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong desire for continuous improvement
