POSITION SUMMARY

CymaBay is seeking an experienced Sr. Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical role in driving our HR initiatives and providing comprehensive HR support to meet defined objectives of people and business needs of the company. Responsibilities and tasks include, but not limited to professional and administrative support for Talent Acquisition, Benefits, HRIS, HR Compliance and Policy Development, Employee Engagement/Recognition, and Training.

This is a hybrid role - our work from home days are Monday and Friday and our in-office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Talent Acquisition: Provide administrative support for assigned open positions, including ensuring all required recruiting forms are completed and processed within a timely manner, Maintain tracker for Contractors and ensure SOWs are up to date.
  • Onboarding: Coordinate all HR-related activities including pre-employment screenings, new hire paperwork/training schedule, buddy program, and communication to new employees to ensure a smooth and positive experience.
  • Benefits: support administration of CymaBay benefits which may include health and retirement plans, assisting with annual insurance renewal, open enrollment activities, responding to employee questions, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Leaves of Absence: support leaves of absence including FMLA/CFRA and multi state leaves accordance with state and federal laws.
  • HRIS: maintain HRIS to ensure data integrity, reporting, and infrastructure.
  • Safety: participate in the Safety Committee and oversee workers’ compensation claims. Assist in ergonomic requests as needed.
  • Policy Management: including administering/interpreting company policies and assisting HR leadership in employment issues research, labor law and employment law compliance related investigations and employee policy creation.
  • Learning and Development: assist with employee training and development programs, employee engagement and communication activities/events.
  • Reporting: Generate HR reports, analyze data, and provide HR metrics and associated insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Provide excellent client service and support by responding timely and accurately to employee questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5+ years of generalist experience in Human Resources (Biotech/Pharma preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Comfort with ambiguity; able to lead projects to completion with little supervision
  • Ability to maintain focus on work assignments and activities when faced with changes, problems, competing priorities or stressful situations
  • Experienced Employee Relations, Recruitment and Selection, Benefits and Compensation, as well as policy and procedure interpretation
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations.

The anticipated salary range in Newark, CA is $115,000 - $140,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. CymaBay is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work outside of the Bay Area or in all states.
