Job Summary

  • Senior IT Project Manager leads, oversees and ensures the successful delivery and management of single or multiple projects which could be stand-alone or part of an overall program. Accountable for delivery within scope, quality, time and cost constraints that may be clearly defined or may require dynamic change management to deliver business value. These projects tend to be larger in terms of scope, cost and impact than those led by more junior project managers.

Purpose

  • To improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of Infrastructure Services through the successful delivery of Infrastructure Projects.

Responsibilities

  • (40%) Provide leadership and direction to project team members throughout the project life cycle, ensuring deliverables are met per cost, schedule and scope commitments, proactively handling escalations as necessary to ensure project goals are accomplished and are in line with business objectives. Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors. Ensure resource availability and allocation. Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders.
  • (20%) Proactively assess risks and issues, providing leadership to determine appropriate mitigation plans, escalating as necessary and then executing and following up on these. Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • (20%) Provide regular status reports in various formats and forums to a variety of stakeholders - ensuring full transparency of project status and health.
  • (15%) Analyze project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing projects. This includes identifying and scheduling project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks. Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • (5%) Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in project and portfolio management. Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Job related experience: 8+ years
  • 8+ Years of Project Management experience in a large multi-unit organization required.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience overseeing large scale projects, global teams, project managers, application leads.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build formal and informal relationships and networks within and across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to lead and motivate others; demonstrating empathy and knowledge of personality types
  • Distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills, because this is a highly visible position with substantial impact
  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in an environment where this role may not directly control resources
  • Familiar with project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile)
  • Cultural adaptability. Virtual and remote team management ability.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is desired but not required.
  • This person needs to demonstrate problem solving skills where they can examine issues and effectively determine appropriate means of addressing them. Must also be able to envision different possible scenarios that could introduce risk and proactively plan to mitigate. Must be able to be creative in finding ways to resolve conflicts and overcome obstacles throughout the life of the project.

Organizational position

  • Reports to Director, PMO Operations within the ePMO.
  • Responsible for Work-stream Managers, as determined from time to time, for the delivery and set-up of projects.
  • Dotted Line responsibility for Technical Resources that are engaged on relevant projects.
