Job Overview:
The Senior Manager, Accounting Operations is a professional level position which requires expertise in accounting functions and systems. The Senior Manager is a critical leadership position responsible for driving transformation project activities sponsored by Finance and Accounting and implement solutions with the objective to standardize, modernize, and optimize business processes and systems, enhance talent, and improve customer experience. In addition, the position will lead a centralized Accounts Payable team. This team is led on a day-to-day basis by the Accounts Payable Manager who reports to the Senior Manager. The position will work within and beyond the finance organization representing the Finance function with key constituents including accounting, IT, and Account Management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with VP and finance leadership to identify, develop, and implement best in class accounting process, automation, and other improvement initiatives as part of the finance roadmap
- Develop and implement process improvements to create and sustain a continuous improvement environment including the enhancement of accounting processes, policies, and procedures
- Design and develop process and procedures manuals, policies, and internal controls.
- Serve as Finance subject matter expert from beginning to end to ensure sustainability of new processes which includes business case write up, reporting on status, documentation of process flows, testing, training, and hyper care
- Map and design business processes, monitor and drive the associated change. Design and drive standards across Finance
- Provide sponsorship, process design oversight and assessment of relevant metrics and process operations, focusing on quality assurance and continuing process integrity
- Establish accounting policy and ensure compliance with overall Safe-Guard policy
- Bring teams together to understand each area's perspective to drive forward initiatives for increased value across Finance
- Lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to provide thought leadership around the finance function
- Manage and coach employees to increase engagement and strengthen professional development

Job Requirements:
- Experience in the design and implementation of financial systems and applications, as well as advanced knowledge and technical acumen for the analysis of business results
- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis
- Experience in participating in finance transformation initiatives in rapidly growing organization collaborating across cross-functional groups
- Self-starting analytical person with excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
- Deep expertise in business, financial and/or accounting leading practices
- Established experience in managing full lifecycle Accounts Payable function
- Ability to effectively work with, communicate to, and influence all levels of management
- Ability to integrate multiple data sources into cohesive reporting, visualizations, and presentations to tell the finance transformation story and facilitate management decision-making
- Proactive and strong positive outlook and change management approach
- History of envisioning, designing, and implementing continuous improvements to optimize analytical tools, accounting tasks, internal controls, and business processes
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
Education / Experience:
- Finance, Accounting, or Business bachelor's degree; MBA or CPA preferred
- Prior experience in the insurance or auto industry is a plus
- Proven experience using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Smartsheet, and Visio
- Experience with mid-range to top-tier ERP systems including Microsoft Dynamics GP, Oracle, etc.
- Five years' experience in finance
- Leading practice knowledge of Finance business process design
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in Finance
- Understanding of change management and its impact on transformation
