We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Manager Analytics on our Marketing & Member Experience team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.

As a , you will Lead a high-functioning team focused ondelivering key analytic insights tied to membership growth objectives withinthe Marketing and Member Experience (MMX) team at the AMA. Work closely with internalbusiness stakeholders to develop a variety of innovative, data-driven solutionsthat support key initiatives, such as building predictive models to informtargeting strategies. Using data to develop models and ad-hoc reporting,provide direction to business teams on future marketing campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer & Outcome Analysis

  • Support business leaders in membership marketing, digital analytics, institutional sales, and segment marketing with concise and actionable analyses tied to specific business questions and strategic decisions.
  • Proactively deliver customer insights to business teams tasked with improving outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends to ensure the AMA is utilizing the newest and most effective technologies to organize, summarize, and extract insights from our data repositories.

Predictive Modeling & Analysis

  • Oversee data science and applied research projects that have high technical depth and business impact, including areas of statistical and causal inference, user modeling, multi-touch attribution, marketing mix, customer lifetime value, etc.
  • Lead the productionalization of DS/ML models and oversee modernization of experimentation framework to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing across channels.
  • Create performance metrics and tracking processes to measure the effectiveness of the predictive modeling and customer segmentation efforts; responsible for the integrity of all models in use including reporting of model performance.
  • Evaluate existing tools and processes to create a long-term strategy for sustainable analytics in a scaled business setting, offering ease and efficiency of insight generation through the creation of consumable end-user data products.

Management and Staff Development

  • Establishes team standards and processes to enhance performance and leads development of best-in-class technical resources and knowledge sharing; champions documentation of analytics processes and procedures to create repeatable processes easily replicated by others.
  • Manages timelines of multiple projects and builds contingency plans to mitigate risk.
  • Recruit, lead, and nurture a dynamic team of data professionals.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required, Master's degree or PhD a plus.

2. Minimum 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in data science and/or quantitative analysis with 2+ years of direct supervisory experience; 10+ years of overall experience preferred.

3. Polished written and verbal communication skills including communication of technical concepts to business audiences with a focus on driving impact.

4. Demonstrated ability to prioritize work based on changing business needs and relevant timelines, including completion of tasks requiring inputs from colleagues across the AMA.

5. Can effectively manage timelines of multiple projects in a matrix environment.

6. Very strong problem-solving skills to break down and deconstruct the problem and put into motion the methods to solve it; focuses on unusually complex technical and operational problems requiring cross-team collaboration.

7. Demonstrated ability to develop direct reports, and provide coaching, technical guidance, and hands-on instruction.

8. Ability to present findings and insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis.

9. Excellent time management and organizational skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, deliver on deadlines and manage a workload with possible conflicting priorities

10. Exceptional logical reasoning, critical thinking, and computational skills; demonstrated competency in reframing business problems analytically, as well as the ability to conceptualize an analytic deliverable from start to finish.

Additional Required Technical Background:

1. Advanced level of knowledge and specialized expertise in at least one of the following areas: causal inference, attribution modeling, recommendation systems, natural language processing, performance marketing, forecasting, personalization, or user behavior tracking.

2. Ability to manage data including ingestion, standardization, metadata management, business rule curation, data enhancement, and statistical computation against data sources that include relational, XML, JSON, streaming, REST API, and unstructured data.

3. Proficiency with SQL and scientific computing languages (Python / R).

4. Experience with reporting and visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, etc.
