Position Summary: The Sr. Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for leading teams that may include but are not limited to Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Business Intelligence, Data Governance, Data Infrastructure, Database Administration, Data Quality, and all the responsibilities of those teams. The position requires the ability to oversee multiple projects, work with business partners and IT partners on requests, and develop roadmaps to establish enterprise class data processes and capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple teams across the data space.
- Building, improving, maintaining, scaling, and streamlining processes and services through leadership of the Enterprise Data team.
- Hire and oversee team to support future implementation of data tools.
- Oversee implementation of projects and enhancements.
- Evaluate design options and set strategy for various components of the Enterprise Data tools & platforms.
- Lead large projects that impact the business in big, innovative ways.
- Work with the IT Support desk to support timely resolution of issues related to Enterprise Data systems, functionality, and processes.
- Develop and maintain business and technology roadmaps on a quarterly basis.
- Provide effective people leadership to team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 10+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems.
- 6+ years of experience in management or people leading.
- Experience in building or maintaining data-related resources in Azure.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft stack of data technologies (Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SQL).
- Experience with ETL/ELT, Snowflake, Data Modeling, Reporting, and Data Governance tools like Alation.
- Experience with implementing enterprise data tools and processes.
- Advanced knowledge of data architecture, data engineering, and multidimensional modeling.
- Excellent project managements skills.
- Ability to juggle various work activities and shift their attention from one task to another to meet the demands of different stakeholders without "dropping the ball."
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, team-oriented environment and have a "roll up your sleeves" and "win every day" mentality.
- Hold oneself accountable and responsible while being self-driven in accomplishing goals.
- Detail-oriented and can focus on task at hand by finding the most efficient and effective pathway to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels to communicate with internal and external stakeholders articulately.
- Ability to logically connect ideas, scrutinize and evaluate arguments, find inconsistencies and errors in work, solve complex problems, and engage in reflection.
- Ability to provide timely and empathetic service through all communication channels keeping peer and customer needs first.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and/or Access).
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
- Certifications for Database Administration, Azure Data Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Database Administrator Associate, and Snowflake.
- Experience with Alation and knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and how it applies to IT and the data space.
- Knowledge of reporting needs related to the home improvement industry.
Travel Requirements:
- 10%-25% domestic travel required.
Overtime/Additional Hours Requirements:
- Additional hours may be required (exempt positions).
Physical Requirements:
- Normal office environment.
- Performs indoor work in a climate-controlled environment.
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
