A Brief Overview

The Senior Manager of Data Science Products will report to the Data Science Director to work cross-functionally with teams across the health system and the university to identify, build, launch and support products and services offered by the Data Science team. This role is in a new team supporting Stanford Medicine's inaugural Chief Data Scientist in building Stanford Health Care's (SHC) solutions that incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve patient care, medical research, and administrative services. This team was created to bring AI, predictive algorithms and other emerging machine learning (ML) based innovations in data science into healthcare and will partner closely with individuals across clinical specialties and operations areas to deploy algorithms that lead to better patient outcomes.

What you will do
  • Develop and manage a roadmap of products and services from the data science team, including defining vision, goals, and objectives.
  • Partner with other Directors, Managers and Executives across Stanford Healthcare to assess and deliver AI/ML enabled solutions across SHC
  • Manage the lifecycle of products and services launched by the data science team, including coordinating support efforts across SHC and with the data science team.
  • Monitor the performance of products and services and provide ongoing analysis and reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Elucidate workflows and gather requirements for incorporating AI/ML capabilities into proposed projects and assessments.
  • Define systems/project priorities, scope, approach, resource requirements, timing deliverables and funding.
  • Work closely with end users and distributed support teams to timely resolve user issues and concerns.
  • Communicate approaches and methods developed in the Data Science team to groups across SHC and the university.
  • Develop project schedules and work plans using standard project management tools and methods.
  • Maintain landscape awareness of competitive and aspirational health systems, researchers, and/or industry while defining and actioning Stanford's differentiation.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and identify opportunities to incorporate these into the health system's data strategy.
  • Communicate product vision, goals, and progress to internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clinicians, IT professionals, and partners.

Education Qualifications
  • Masters degree in a relevant field, such as data science, computer science, or healthcare management.

Experience Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, product management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data science methods and technologies, including machine learning, natural language processing, and data visualization.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving the development and implementation of data-driven products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience building a product management group from the ground up.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to provide guidance and support to a team of engineers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Experience vetting and implementing AI product partnerships in healthcare settings
  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare informatics related technologies and standards.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $91.53 - $121.26 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
