Sr. Manager, e-commerce operations
Job Description
This role is responsible for defining and delivering a best-in-class consumer experience for SOREL.com and SOREL.ca consumers that will increase consumer affinity, drive engagement, and ultimately drive sales. This includes the oversight for every consumer journey touchpoint.
The Sr. Ecommerce Operations Manager is a critical piece of the long-term SOREL.com and SOREL.ca growth strategy. The person is part of the SOREL Marketing and Ecommerce leadership team and has a seat at the table for making short and long-term decisions that have significant impact the SOREL brand and business.
This role reports to the VP of Global Brand Marketing & North America Ecommerce Marketing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides leadership in the identification of specific and appropriate opportunities to grow the eCommerce business through the targeted use of analytics.
- Leads the creation and execution of consumer sales programs and strategies to generate online sell-through of products.
- Influences cross-functional and cross-enterprise teams to develop and execute a comprehensive web strategy; defines the scope, business requirements, budget, KPIs, benefit analysis and cost justification for strategic projects to support business needs.
- Strategizes and partners with Sr. Ecommerce Marketing Manager to implement objectives to drive customer acquisition, sales, and retention as well as market awareness on websites.
- Strategizes and partners with Sr. Ecommerce Merchandising Manager to ensure seasonal merchandising assortments are supported and promotional plans are optimized and effective.
- Works in partnership with Brand Marketing to influence go-to-marketing strategies that ensure a cohesive brand experience.
- Works with Corporate development teams to advocate, leverage, and recommend web tools that will enhance a seamless customer experience, driving an increasing rate of repeat visitors and conversion.
- Develops and leads site merchandising strategies for maximum sale potential though web analytic analysis.
- Evaluates website performance, assesses results, and makes continuous improvements by examining data and making recommendations to internal business partners to evolve site content and web tools to maximize effectiveness.
- Identifies needs for new technologies and works with both the Director, Technology and Director, Product Owners to develop requirements through implementation.
- Determines key performance indicators related to site operations, tracks and analyses performance and distributes appropriate reporting weekly/monthly/quarterly.
- Reviews available web analytic metrics to ensure site content, user experience and product performance are optimized to drive sales and make appropriate adjustments as needed.
- Develops strong working relations with our third-party solution providers to collaborate and develop strategies that maximize return on investment.
- Assists in the development of the Site Ops annual budget planning and responsible to effectively manage the Site Ops budget; including on-time vendor invoicing.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree with preference to concentration in Business Administration, Ecommerce, Retail Merchandising and/or Marketing.
8+ years of progressive Ecommerce Operations/Merchandising/Marketing/Development and/or a combination of this experience with a retail brand and/or retailer.
- Experience in a leading role, owning and managing comprehensive site strategy and planning for day-to-day Ecommerce business operations
- Experience influencing senior leadership and quantifying results for consumption by various levels within the business
- Expert MS Excel skills including the ability to use formulas, functions, pivot tables and charts
- Experience with web analytics software
- Proven ability to work within and lead a high-performing team
- Current and working knowledge of eCommerce platforms and processes
- Knowledge of the footwear industry, retail dynamics, and consumer buying patterns
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills and attention to detail required.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to deep-dive into data to understand key trends and opportunities.

Supervisory responsibilities include establishing development plans, succession strategy, employee evaluations, employee coaching and counselling and/or discipline, approving absences or overtime, recommendations for hiring, terminations, pay changes, job changes and training.
JOB SCOPE
This position requires a desire and proven ability to drive for results across the core responsibilities of the role from strategy through to execution and including relevant and timely reporting of the results.
Requires thoughtful and decisive decision-making abilities given the nature of the fast-paced environment of the digital landscape and business dynamic of Ecommerce.
This position will help manage multiple projects and requires the ability to see things from a high level across all channels and how they influence each other.
This role requires a significant level of independence and decision-making. Must be adept at solving complex business problems, working with multiple stakeholders across various functions, and possess the ability to influence others across those functions.
Strong communication skills are critical to the success of this role. Must be able to articulate complex business challenges and opportunities to an array of stakeholders, including regular communication with senior leadership across marketing and digital teams, sales, and senior leadership within the larger enterprise organization.
Position requires substantial thought leadership and the ability to see programs through to execution. Responsibilities are performed with minimal supervision and work is evaluated by results and ability to achieve brand business objectives.
Responsible for making decisions that have material financial impact on the business.
JOB CONDITIONS
Position requires little to no travel within North America.
Job requires hours that may occasionally exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week and during times of peak activity (seasonal) and last for a week+ during key events. Evening meetings and/or weekend work occasionally required to collaborate with people in other time zones and to ensure timely project completion.
