Sr. Manager, Financial Reporting

The Senior Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting is a key team player and important leader responsible for the management and execution of Enviva’s financial reporting functions, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC guidelines. This role reports to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and collaborates closely with various functions within the finance organization on a day-to-day basis, as well as more broadly with other departments and internal/external auditors. This position will have a critical role in Enviva’s external financial reporting, focusing on the timely and accurate preparation and submission of our SEC filings.
This role will also assist in the creation, maintenance, and distribution of internal financial reporting of financial data to internal management key stakeholders. Assist with the maintenance of the account structure in the general ledger system.
The successful candidate will regularly interact with all levels of management, professional service providers, and various functions within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the timely and accurate preparation, review, and management of quarterly and annual periodic SEC filings and regulatory disclosures on Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K
- Assist Enviva Investor Relations in the preparation of earnings releases and investor presentation packages, with emphasis on financial information and related content
- Coordinate efforts with internal departments and external groups to facilitate SEC filings and regulatory disclosures, including gathering financial non-financial information
- Draft financial statements and footnote disclosures for SEC filings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information as needed.
- Complete disclosure checklists to ensure financial statements comply with the applicable disclosure requirements
- Work directly with financial reporting software (Workiva), become a subject matter expert which includes; maintaining the system, entering data, designing, implementing and building in efficiencies / process improvements, and filing / submitting documents to the SEC
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of detailed Xtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) reporting
- Review and maintain supporting documentation to substantiate information included in each SEC filing and regulatory disclosure
- Ensure compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX 404) by maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting
- Assist in external audit coordination and internal audit reviews
- Assist in developing quarterly financial reporting calendars and project plans
- Contribute to the enhancement and streamlining of finance process improvement initiatives to create efficiencies and implementation of automated financial tools
- Interface effectively with key stake holders, including accounting and finance teams, investor relations, legal counsel, internal audit, and external auditors
- Ability to supervise, coach, develop, and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling of work assignments
- Create, maintain, review, and report financial data to internal management key stakeholders
- Identify, create, and report new internal financial data to support ad-hoc requests of key stakeholders across various business areas
- Assist with maintenance and control of the general ledger and the report writer tool included with the general ledger system
- Provide expertise with ad-hoc research-related requests, as needed
QualificationsÂ
- A./B.S. in Accounting
- Active CPA license
- 8+ years of financial reporting preparation experience, including SEC reporting in a large public company
- 2+ years of supervisory and / or people management experience
- Experience in big 4 public accounting preferred
- Strong accounting background, solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting principles, SOX, and SEC financial reporting standards and regulations
- Experience with Workiva and XBRL
- Experience with consolidations and foreign currency transactions
- Experience with reporting tools and financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 including Management Reporter
- Advanced report writing skills utilizing a general ledger system with the ability to create, maintain and deliver accurate financial data for internal and external stakeholders

Working Conditions
- Hybrid work with a minimum of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the office, ability to work Monday and Friday remote.
- May need additional work days in office due at times due to deadlines and the need to effectively work and meet with stakeholders in person
