Sr. Manager, HR Compliance & Communications

Job Summary:Â Â
The Sr. Manager, HR Compliance & Communications’ main mission is to lead iHerb to embody a culture of compliance and internal development. This position ensures that the company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies; and will design/manage strategic partnerships with internal business units toward a common goal of enterprise-wide compliance excellence. This role will have a diverse range of responsibilities associated with interpretation of people related regulations (including but not limited to HR state, federal, SEC, SOX), and drive a proactive collaboration between HR & cross-functional stakeholders. The Sr. Manager, HR Compliance & Communications will lead compliance policy development and management, compliance training and program management and creation of communications related to program updates. The senior manager also acts as liaison and advisor to the organization's leadership and facilitates initiatives across the organization.
Job Expectations:Â
Compliance and Human Resources Management
- In partnership with HR, legal and business leaders, builds and executes a comprehensive strategic plan to remain compliant as a global organization
- Ensure adherence to policy with all employment compliance matters
- Ensures the HR function complies with all internal controls (as determined by the IA team)
- Able to proactively identify new and emerging potential risks
- Perform Annual Compliance Risk Assessment and audit High Risks to identify any gaps in the effectiveness compliance and control environment
- Provide proactive consulting and facilitation of compliance, control, and governance processes for those areas under review
- Oversees and manage those tasked with execution of specific audit engagements designed to test compliance and control practices
- Manage pre-hire onboarding compliance requirements, including employment agreements, background checks, export control questionnaire, etc.
- Support iHerb’s compliance requirements, including drug and alcohol testing for required roles
- Build & maintain compliance processes from onboarding to off-boarding for extended workforce members, including temporary workers and independent contractors
- Keep iHerb’s employment agreements and documents up to date, including our Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and other as required by SEC and SOX regulationsÂ
- Handle various HR processes where compliance is required (such as the creation of personnel files, development of training, other)
- Track and follow-up with employees on required compliance trainings, tasks and processes
- Provide reporting (e.g. EEOC) and conduct audits when necessary
- Partner with the Legal team and other required stakeholders to ensure appropriate compliance and governance of our people processes
- Partners with the leave of absence representative and FMLASource to ensure compliance with company policy as well as state and federal regulations (FMLA, PDL, CFRA, ADA, USERRA, Covid-19)
- Partners with HR leadership in support of contracts and communications
Communications
- Identifies and incorporates best practices and lessons learned into program plans
- Designs and develops communication strategy for internal and external campaigns
- Communicates with senior leaders and board members
- Trains employees on HR issues and practices & presents course materials
- Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters
- Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to enhance employee compliance, individual job performance and overall company performance

- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.

- Ability to research and interpret employment laws and regulatory changes, participating in continuous HR training
- Ability to maintain confidentiality as required
- Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
Equipment Knowledge:Â
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Generally requires a minimum of 6+ years’ experience in compliance/legal/human resources generalist field, and at least 3 years in a leadership role in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership skills; influencing other HR and cross-functional professionals. Experience working in e-commerce, technology and manufacturing warehouse environments preferred.
Education Requirements:Â
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Law or related field preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.Â
- CPLP credential or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential, preferred.
