ABOUT THIS JOB

The centralized HR Investigation team's purpose is to promptly and thoroughly conduct all Human Resources investigations in a manner that is fair, unbiased, and consistent with CarMax values. The Sr. Manager, HR Investigations is responsible for leading, developing, and continuously improving the members and practices of the team. The ideal candidate for this role has strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes across the organization, the judgment to drive thoughtful and consistent investigative results, and the ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness of a centralized function.

WHAT YOU'LL DO - ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and guide HR Investigators in conducting all HR investigations, including analysis, interviews, case adjudication, remedial action recommendations, and thorough documentation of investigation results
  • Develop and manage the HR Investigations function and budget
  • Manage and develop HR Investigations Team members
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to continuously improve communication of investigation issues, including regular and trend analysis reporting
  • Stay abreast of company, HR and centralized support developments and best practices and implement them to ensure continuous process improvement of the HR Investigations function
  • Hands-on coaching and training of HR Investigators on all facets of the investigation process
  • Monitor investigation trends and workloads and ensure the team is always staffed with the necessary expertise and capacity
  • Consult and collaborate with Associate Relations, Asset Protection, Compliance & Ethics, and Legal on complex investigations, enterprise investigations practices, and otherwise as needed
  • Develop and continuously improve centralized investigation procedures and ensure proper training of team members and business partners
  • Identify and analyze complaint/issue trends and partner with other HR and operational teams to deliver strategic recommendations to address systemic issues
  • Conduct escalated investigations, as needed

  • Ability to obtain and use organizational, and technical and industry, knowledge to implement change or enhance processes

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Five or more years of Human Resources or comparable experience, with significant experience in HR investigations/case management, including research, analysis, interviews, and investigative reports
  • Significant people management experience
  • Proficient understanding of federal and state labor and unemployment laws
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office systems, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work Location and Arrangement: Work location is flexible if approved by the Company.

The Compensation Range for this position is: $88,400-130,000.
