Job Purpose
The Senior Leader of Network Engineering is responsible for leading our core engineering functions across SageNet. This person will manage a large team of highly skilled Network Engineers to support SageNet's growing customer base efficiently, utilizing automation where applicable, and providing continuous improvement to SageNet's processes and network technology. They will ensure the reliability, performance and integrity of critical infrastructure supporting business operations. This person will direct and develop strategies and standards for all platform infrastructures and ensure compliance with industry standards. Include the design, implementation, maintenance, and support our growing customer base. The right personality is an energetic problem solver with a strong, positive attitude with the ability to manage a highly talented team. The ability to manage and implement new technologies is paramount. The position manages an engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet external customer objectives and SLAs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Network Engineers to design, manage, deploy, secure, and support large client networks across multiple technologies and architectures
- Responsible for the empowerment, growth, development, and success of Network Engineers across multiple Engineering Teams
- Develop, groom, and maintain relationships within other departments to coordinate mentorship within Network Engineering for future NE placement
- Determine future training needs to determine the best path for growth while developing a strategy to grow competency within the SageNet Engineering group
- Leads the Network Operations Tier IV team of 8 - 10 engineers in the resolution of incidents, engineering support for site installs, network maintenance, and monitoring.
- Leads change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to network infrastructure meet or exceed KPI's.
- Escalation point for Network incident and outage escalation point for SageNet Tier IV.
- Leads network rollouts, projects, process flow, documentation, and on-going maintenance for assigned accounts, as they relate to Meraki, FortiNet, Cisco and VSAT solutions.
- Ensure all required network documentation including diagrams and troubleshooting is being created and maintained.
- Manage customer collocated network gear installs in the SageNet Data Centers and ensure diagrams are updated.
- Conduct weekly one on ones with each member of your team.
- Perform performance reviews of each member of your team quarterly.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of networking experience in environments supporting multiple vendors and networking products.
- Experience with VSAT, Fortinet, Meraki, and Cisco preferred
- Proven ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management.
- Proficient in the use of Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Working Conditions
- Productively work in a hybrid work environment which consists of 2 mandatory "all-in" days, 1 variable day, and 2 virtual days. Hybrid work environment is applied per position/department and may be subject to change per changes in the Policy.
- Business casual work environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Standard daytime working hours and availability for on-call support as needed
Physical Requirements
- Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally must lift/carry 20 lbs.
- Extensive use of hands and fingers for typing
- Extensive use of eyes in reviewing paper documents or a computer screen
