About The Position
- Responsible for the design and operational delivery of Ameren's corporate network backbone, includes all fiber, microwave and protocols used to deliver the corporate backbone network
- Responsible for the project management and service delivery of deployments to substations, works headquarters, generation sites, corporate data centers and all PLTE tower locations
- Responsible for the leadership and direction of the Network Engineering function that supports Ameren's energy delivery business lines for Smart Grid and Operations Technology. Primary responsibilities include the design and implementation of business line OT communication projects in a safe and reliable fashion. The Operations Technology engineering function is responsible for design and implementation of Ameren's communication systems providing services for Smart Grid, FAN, LAN, WAN, long haul fiber optic, microwave systems, and Land Based Mobile Radio System.
- Responsible for the hand-off of operations design, support, and processes that meet both business requirements and compliance
- Provide operational and technical design for utility broad band solutions
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide direct leadership of over Ameren professionals including Managers, Engineers, and contractors.
- Provide leadership to ensure the successful and timely design of all network projects.
- Provides Cyber security guidance, protection of network assets, and continuous cyber improvement awareness.
- Provide QA of all networking delivery processes supporting Digital as well as Operations technologies (i.e., RTU communications).
- Works with Utility Operations Technology teams to adopt new design standards, capabilities, and business processes.
- Works with Operational Excellence and Automation teams to ensure daily operations is managed and support to ensure the highest reliability and capabilities, include ensure of monitoring, automating of playbooks and provisioning.
- Define and assist with training or acquiring resources to deliver a robust network operations center, and field service support.
- Provide overall project leadership to ensure project budgets and schedules are met.
- Participate in and keep abreast of industry developments and improvements related to utility communications design for MPLS networks, Private LTE solutions, OT and endpoint tools, cloud adoption, network high level and micro-level segmentation of services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or equivalent computer or applicable business related major.
- Master's degree in engineering or business preferred
- 10+ years of electric utility industry experience or equivalent required. Possible relevant experience would be providing applicable consulting services to electric utilities
- 5+ years of supervisory, team leadership or large (>$5M) project experience required

- Excellent leadership and organizational skills required; and
- Ability to work effectively with competing priorities and stressful situations required.
