Strengthen Duolingo finance team's ability to derive insights. You will lead our team's efforts pertaining to all things data, from collection to analysis, to help us develop insights that will inform the company's strategic decisions and day to day decision making.

You Will...

• Set the vision, road map, and priorities for business insights for the finance team at Duolingo
• Perform deep-dive data analyses to better understand growth trends and business performance across regions and products
• Create informative and well-organized presentations that contribute to overall understanding of the business from financial perspective, explaining complex situations by clearly illustrative data and explaining the why behind observations
• Define key business metrics that inform the financial performance and work with cross functional partners to certify those metrics for public company reporting purposes
• Monitor business performance data across products across regions and partners
• Collaborate with data science and analytics engineering to contribute to data methodologies, roadmap planning and understand nuances to our data
• Translate business questions into analytics needs, understanding the difference between what's available and what needs to be developed
• Recruit and manage junior data analyst(s)

You Have...

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or another related field
• 5+ years of analytics experience with proven experience leading a team of analysts in a fast-paced environment
• Highly proficient in SQL
• Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. Looker)
• Strong ability to condense complex concepts and analysis into clear and concise takeaways that drive action
• Experience managing junior reports
• Ability to travel to Duolingo's Pittsburgh, PA headquarters every quarter

Exceptional Candidates Will Have...

• Experience with subscription and / or digital goods business models at companies with millions of users
• Experience with “big data” technologies (e.g., BigQuery)
• Expertise working with R, Python, or other statistical software
• Experience at a high growth company that has undertaken an IPO or a public technology company
• An impressive Duolingo XP or streak!
