Sr. Manager of Payroll
Job Description
The Payroll Team is seeking a passionate technical focused leader to drive large scale initiatives impacting payroll system. This position is responsible for facilitating the successful deployment of each initiative through collaboration with both our internal and external partners, as well as ensuring that we enhance and improve our existing processes and procedures through automation when possible.
What you will work on:
- Ensures payroll is processed with speed and accuracy.
- Serves as liaison to employees and with third party payroll vendors to ensure payroll processing accurately reflects company specific pay policies.
- Audits employee pay records and reconciles totals by department, location, country, etc.
- Coordinates third party payroll system implementations and upgrades. Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, union contracts, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) and ensures appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to the various accounts correctly.
- Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements; stays current with changes in the law.
- May assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation. Documents payroll processes and procedures; may train payroll department staff. May back up those who perform specialized tasks or activities such as stock option exercises, SEC document filing, or sales commission calculation reviews.

Reporting to the Controller the Payroll Leader will drive the strategic roadmap for ensuring that as Boston Dynamics continues to scale its commercial portfolio the payroll systems and processes offer a sustainable solution for both employees and finance alike.

- Successful candidates will have an extensive payroll background, have led complex large scale initiatives, be detail driven, have excellent problem solving abilities
- Passion for the technology side of Payroll. You are someone who looks to lean on technology to drive optimization in your group.
- You should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be passionate with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through open and honest feedback to team members with the goal of continuous process improvement and employee engagement.
- You should have experience and interest in working with working cross-functionally with other departments (FP&A, Accounting and People Operations)
- Experience in Workday and/or ADP is preferred
- Finally, thinking big and setting a bold direction for the future is a must.
