Finance & Accounting Department:

The Finance and Accounting Department mission is to drive achievement of the company’s financial goals and corporate strategic initiatives by providing insights and headlights into the financial and operational well-being of the company. In addition, the Department is responsible for maintaining control of the Company’s financial operations and compliance.

Purpose:

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting will lead and manage the team responsible for the execution of all aspects of the day-to-day accounting and operations of our revenue function. This includes the order-to-cash cycle, revenue recognition policy and process, client subscription management, client billing activities, and full oversight of our billing and revenue recognition system (Zuora).

You will partner closely with Sales, Legal, Customer Success, FP&A and other stakeholders by providing guidance on revenue recognition, advising on best practices for the quote-to-cash cycle, and reporting on recognized revenue and future forecasts. This includes participating in the review of new product offerings and coordinating their introduction into the full-suite of our financial systems (Zuora and Netsuite).

You'll ensure that our financial systems perform at a high level and integrates efficiently with our SalesForce and Avalara applications. Additionally, you will continuously review our established internal controls and processes around billing and revenue recognition activities for improvements to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of reported revenue results, and ensure those results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Areas of Accountability:

Revenue Accounting Leadership

  • Management of the revenue accounting team, including ongoing professional development and training
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the revenue accounting team, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the team’s goals and objectives
  • Maintain a documented system of revenue accounting and billing policies and procedures, and implement internal audits as necessary
  • Continually seek methods to streamline billing and revenue accounting operations, and automate repetitive tasks to increase the overall efficiency of the department
  • Coordinate with other departments on product launches, pricing changes, data integrity, and support of customer programs; work to better integrate customer billing and revenue accounting with other areas of company operations
  • Develop and deliver software revenue/SaaS recognition education to Financial and Sales internal stakeholders to drive awareness/understanding

Transactions

  • Manage the monthly revenue close process, including required journal entries, reconciliations of revenue accounts, contract assets and contract liabilities, and revenue analysis and reporting
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for customer payment methods and processing and receipt of customer payments
  • Ensure complete and accurate customer invoicing and payment processing
  • Manage and implement new product introductions, price changes, client additions or cancellations, and integration of acquired customers into our financial systems
  • Support the continuing enhancement of current finance systems and the rollout of future system implementations and integrations

Compliance

  • Review contracts and analyze revenue recognition arrangements to ensure accordance with ASC 606 and related US GAAP pronouncements and company policy
  • Lead, plan and manage the company’s revenue related policies, procedures, and record keeping; work with other teams within the department and external auditors to maintain an efficient and successful annual financial audit
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal government revenue reporting requirements, sales and use tax collection, and related sales and use tax filings

  • Minimum of a BA; CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in revenue accounting related function, preferably in SaaS or software, and 5 years experience managing mid-size teams
  • Experience with Zuora/RevPro, Netsuite, and Salesforce, or similar billing management, ERP, and CRM systems
  • Systems integration experience a plus
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
  • Keen analytic, organizational and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting; comfortable manipulating and analyzing large volumes of data
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to departmental managers and senior management
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment; strong project management skills and ability to multi-task is essential; sense of urgency and ability to get things done


At Integrated Practice Solutions, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine our offers of employment. This includes internal and external market factors as well as your individual experience and skills. These considerations can cause compensation to vary but we reasonably expect to pay between $49450-$160,000 for this position.
