We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr Manager, Student Memberships on our Membership and Marketing Experience team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2-3 days a week in the office.
As a Sr Manager, Student Memberships, you will strategically develop, manage and drive field marketing recruitmentprograms to grow AMA student membership. Manage a team of field representativesand program administrator that support medical student outreach leaders. Lead marketing recruitment strategy andprograms to grow student membership. Develop marketing/communication plans forfield rep and outreach leaders. Gather insights, analyze trends and makerecommendations for communications, programs and offerings to students. Buildand nurture partner relationships with medical societies and academicinstitutions. Manage budget and recruitment team for student segment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment Strategy
- Lead the development of a comprehensive recruitment strategy medical students
- Develop, manage, implement, and adjust member marketing recruitment strategies to drive membership growth and retention
- Work with marketing staff to develop detailed marketing plans for all media channels and field rep teams
- Develop strong field marketing strategy that nurtures our pipeline pre-med students to fourth year medical students
- Define, identify and execute initiatives vital to successful recruitment strategies and campaigns by analyzing trends and making recommendations regarding compensation and benefits, implementing recruitment strategies and developing appropriate recruitment literature and participating in external recruitment education events
- Establishes programs goals based on past performance and market forecasts
Program Management
- Develop and execute annual plan to recruit and communicate with Outreach Recruiters
- Drive the development of supportive programs and materials
- Develop program presence at AMA Annual, Interim and other relevant meetings
- Work to develop new and leverage existing opportunities for Outreach Recruiters interaction with non-members within key medical schools and states.
- Travel to select Outreach/grassroots events to observe and report on efficacy, response, etc
- Provide operational support to ensure the program operates smoothly and efficiently
- Lead the development of collateral and promotional materials for program including Web and social sites. Ensure proper messaging for recruiters to use for peer-to-peer outreach.
- Coordinate training of recruiters in usage of materials and monitor adoption and usage.
- Provide regular reports to management on progress of Outreach program
Staff Management &Development
- Manage assigned staff in order to achieve membership count and engagement with segment; responsible for building strong personal and team credibility with AMA leaders and subject matter experts
- Recruit and train staff, developing strong expertise in field recruitment, marketing, customer insight, market intelligence and the ability to translate information into actionable activities to achieve segment objectives
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing or business required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in sales and field recruitment, marketing intangible and/or tangible products/services
- Minimum 3 years of experience leading and managing direct reports along with management and leadership skills to coordinate multiple staff required
- Strong strategic thinker with the ability to understand and translate overall business and customer acquisition requirements into measurable goals and strategies, and successfully execute on strategy, on time and on budget
- Demonstrated success in determining and assessing impact of decisions across enterprise and prior experience interacting with and influencing senior management
- Comfort with ambiguity and a changing environment
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work cross-functionally as well as independently
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and experience with tools related to digital interface and use of social media
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate team skills around analysis of data, observations and other market intelligence to synthesize and define unmet market needs and translate into service/product concepts and collaborate with subject matter experts on the concepts
- Ability to travel 25% of time
