Sr. Manager, Software Engineering

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Sr. Engineering Manager who will be driving the engineering team to develop solutions for future business needs. The position requires managing people managers and working with geographically distributed teams. You will be responsible for collaborating with various stakeholders to identify common business requirements and build solutions that provide standardized capabilities for use across the PlayStation platform. These solutions empower teams to focus on their core business functions by providing operationally sound services with ease of adoption. Our services include REST micro-services as well as java libraries dealing with data abstraction, event publishing, batch processing, secrets access and so forth. Responsibilities:

• Lead a diverse team of our Managers and Software Engineers. Handle hiring, mentoring, work planning, career growth, and performance management.
• Challenge status quo and create innovative solutions for the future, by defining team vision and strategy.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders globally on requirements gathering and implementation.
• Build an inner source model for collaborative development and delivery.
• Build and develop a high energy, committed and focused team of developers and Devops engineers.

Qualifications:

• At least 10+ years of engineering management, with 5 years of professional programming experience
• Experience in building and managing highly complex systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• Proficiency in Java programming and Object-oriented analysis and design
• Experience developing high performance, scalable, active-active web services using REST, JSON, and XML.
• Proven experience in Amazon Web Services at enterprise scale including familiarity with EKS and managed services like DynamoDB, Kinesis, Lambda etc.
• Creative and ambitious leader who embraces change and has a desire to continually improve.
• Drive and passion for quality with the ability to excite and motivate other team members.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work with geographically remote teams.

This role is in scenic San Francisco or sunny San Diego.
