AMD Server Engineering is looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Austin Server Debug team, which is responsible for debugging and root causing improper or inconsistent operation of server systems. The manager will also lead a team responsible for driving Post-Silicon debug strategic initiatives in the Server Platform Solution Engineering Group to accelerate debug in AMD. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills, demonstrable experience in designing experiments to solve problems, and great management capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grow and manage a Server debug team responsible for root causing and determining the improper or inconsistent operation of server systems.
• Guide the team to provide root cause analysis and guidance to internal design teams to help close any gating issues.
• Direct complex debug efforts for internal/customer findings to identify root cause and resolution.
• Improve debug capabilities and methodologies over time by identifying common challenges or impediments to efficient debug and working with partner organizations to drive innovation in tools and methods.
• Manage and track technical issues, risks, and priorities. Manage customer and executive communications, including program status, risks, and opportunities.
• Mentor and train engineers in x86 and debug techniques.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of experience developing SoC (design, architecture, pre-silicon validation, or post-silicon validation).
• A thorough understanding of datacenter industry technologies and their software stack.
• Strong knowledge of X86 architecture, power management, SoC design, cache coherency protocols, and Data Center industry standard buses (PCIe, CXL, etc.).
• Exceptional understanding of platform hardware, operating systems, device drivers, and system BIOS interactions.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership, analytical, project planning, and management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Good understanding of PC platform hardware, operating systems, device drivers, and system BIOS interactions.
• The individual is required to be a self-starter and be able to deal with a high level of ambiguity.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Extensive industry experience in semiconductor, hardware, or firmware development.
• Hands-on experience debugging low-level firmware such as UEFI, power management FW, memory initialization and training, or similar.

• System-level debugging skills that enable the root causing of potential issues at the operating system level.
• Experience in programming and/or scripting languages (e.g., C++, Perl, Python, Shell).

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 9+ years of experience. -OR-

Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 6+ years of experience.
