SUMMARY:
The Technical Services Senior Manager is responsible to manage a team of technical resources to work cross functionally;

  • Ensuring growth and Capex projects incorporate the right technologies and best practices to optimize profitable growth,
  • Projects start up vertically
  • Hand-off transition between functions is seamless and projects deliver against the business case
  • Build capability within a nimble team that is flexible and services the global organization


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the manufacturing organization with tactical hands-on support to address specific opportunities, exercising explicit authority in giving technical direction within the region.
  • Incorporate, monitor and encourage effective use of best practices, thus developing technical capability within the factories and other functions, flowing through from project initiation to completion
  • Provide technical input to network optimization planning and engineered growth opportunities for the North American region but also within a global network planning
  • Lead and provide best practices with respect to the integration of technical expertise and manufacturing into product development
  • Deliver vertical startup of projects using the Startup Management processes for equipment including induced failure testing protocol.
  • Coach a team of individuals to the highest levels of project SUM, continuously improve, document and share best practices globally
  • Monitor and drive factory performance and support plants to sustain and make continuous improvement against key manufacturing targets to deliver Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA)
  • Coach and develop other manufacturing and technical service personnel
  • Support network optimization; the movement of SKUs through our network, new product developments, and support the interfaces between manufacturing and other supply chain functions
  • Support new product launch activities, which includes attending test runs, gathering data and cooperatively working with development team ordinate efforts between plants to share processing knowledge and improvements


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Engineering or related field and 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Maintenance, R&D, Technical Operations / Process control, Data Analytics, Data Integration, Programing or Packaging.

  • Ability to build strong relationships across a broad range of functions and support their efforts through a collaborative approach. Ability to influence effective decision-making with cross-functional business teams.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface successfully with others representing diverse styles and cultures.
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks and measure progress, with the goal of managing concurrent priorities and contributing to the development of technical capability throughout the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on abstract projects with minimal supervision.
  • Project management skills: chartering, milestone development, resourcing, detailed action planning


Technical Capabilities:

  • Strong technical aptitude, mechanical/electrical engineering, and/or plant automation, with the ability to improve process efficiencies - (Process engineering)
  • Experience with electrical and controls systems design and programming
  • Knowledge with Autonomous Maintenance Systems
  • Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to understand process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives
  • Experience in training and facilitation
  • Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies and basic manufacturing SOP's
  • Expertise in the validation and effectiveness of new technologies
  • Experience with start-up management concepts and equipment commissioning
  • Ability to work independently and within teams on abstract projects with minimal supervision
  • Target year on year raw material recovery and line rate improvements at all facilities
  • Network / collaborate through the technical services organization to contribute to future best practices and equipment standards that support SCA


Business Acumen:

  • Ability to contribute to a broad range of operational and business issues. Ability to make decisions considering the broader implications of these decisions to the organization and all stakeholders.
  • Capable of understanding basic to mid-level financial reports and use that information to justify decisions


Required Length & Type of Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Food Manufacturing industry. Previous experience in a technical, engineering, and/or an R&D role is a must. Leadership and project management experience is a definite plus.


Travel:

  • Ability to travel up to 50%
