Job Description


The Senior (Sr.) Manager, Learning & Development, is responsible for supporting the training function for an assigned area of responsibility within Precision Medicine Group, as well as supporting and partnering with the global Learning & Development team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the conducting needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and appropriate solutions, assists in the creation and delivery of curricula, and manages resources within own work and/or specific projects. Must maintain clear and consistent communications with team members, clients and L&D leadership. The Sr Manager will solve problems and take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. Creates project timelines to support organizational objectives.  Manages resources consistent with organizational goals.

Assists and sometimes leads the creation and delivery of curricula. Must maintain clear and consistent communications with team members, clients and L&D leadership.

Supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate within assigned region/area of responsibility.


Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Understands the priorities, objectives, and challenges of area of responsibility to be able to support defining the learning needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Conducts consultations, facilitates discussions, and supports the analysis and identification of internal customers’ learning needs. Supports and sometimes leads development of customized strategies and plans to address these needs effectively and efficiently.
  • Participate in the development of training materials
    • Identifies training and development opportunities and works with appropriate subject matter experts (internal and external) to develop training and development programs
    • Prepares and distributes training support materials such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids. Determines most effective delivery model(s) for training programs (online, self-study, classroom, etc.)
    • Ensures that all training materials and programs are compliant with laws and regulations governing the industry
    • Keeps up with and applies the latest teaching techniques to a program delivery training environment
    • Works to keep training programs vibrant and engaging in order to support learners
  • Assists with the development/review of relevant SOPs
  • Supports selection of and booking venues for live training events
  • Keep attendance, electronic documentation and other records for training sessions, seminars, workshops, individual training sessions, etc.
  • Create training materials, present in-person, and virtual training sessions, monitor training for effectiveness
  • Triage incoming requests for potential trainings or current training tools and templates from clients
  • Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience ideally in a scientific, healthcare or agency discipline.
  • 5 years in a relevant business area role or equivalent experience or demonstrated competencies in the key requirements of the role

Other Required:

  • Ability to deliver classroom and virtual instruction
  • Ability to influence without direct authority
  • Excellent planning, organizational, time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects
  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, as required in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal key stakeholders and develop positive working relationships with individual and teams internally and externally
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (includes overnight travel)

Preferred:

  • 2-3 years Learning & Development experience
  • Global training development and delivery experience
  • 3 years of people leadership experience
  • Experience in leading/supporting change management initiatives
  • Previous experience as corporate trainer with a track record in designing and executing successful training programs strongly preferred
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning software development skills
  • Understanding of the business in the assigned region/area of responsibility
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods instructional design and adult learning theories

  • Demonstrates an acceptable degree of professionalism, as evidenced by punctuality, ability to deliver on commitments, an understanding of the service culture and positive interactions with customers and teammates, including good interpersonal skills
  • Works well in a team environment but exhibits high self-motivation and is able to work and plan
  • Fluent in English
  • Conducts formal presentations to a wide variety of audiences including colleagues, investigative staff, and clients with a high level of proficiency, both in-person and virtual.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced, always-on, quickly changing environment and deadline driven
