Position Summary
We are seeking an exceptionally driven and passionate individual to join our solid-state thermal battery engineering team. You will collaborate with internal & external engineering teams to scope, define, design, model, prototype, validate, and iterate the mechanical design of Antora thermal battery. You will be a key technical member of a cross-functional and rapidly growing organization. Your work will directly contribute to the demonstration of a first of a kind long-duration energy storage technology.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Drive hardware development for subsystems and components within Antora’s thermal battery system from basic architecture evaluations through detailed design, analysis, prototype, test, and manufacturing phases.
- Perform design calculations for static structural elements, actuation systems, fluid systems, and design for manufacturability.
- Perform basic thermal and mechanical analysis including FEA, where applicable.
- Work closely with analysts to develop thermal and systems requirements as well as manufacturing engineers to optimize for cost and production scale-up.
- Responsible for product delivery and timeline through the phases outlined above.
- Develop and maintain internal design practices and documentation on mechanical design.
- Support CAD best practices, drawings standards, and infrastructure.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering.
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering.
- Experience developing and delivering hardware products as lead mechanical design engineer.
Additional Qualifications Desired
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering roles with 2+ years experience as lead engineer on design programs.
- Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software, e.g. Solidworks or NX and data management software like ePDM or Teamcenter
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software, e.g. ANSYS
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical and systems analysis including failure modes of thermo-mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in designing for common manufacturing processes like welding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Salary Range: $160,000 USD - $185,000 USD
Salary Basis: Annual

The actual salary offered will be determined within the posted range based on a candidate's experience, credentials, and expertise as they pertain to the requirements of the position.
