We have an excellent opportunity for a hardworking individual as Customer Technical Services, Hot Section Manager to be based in East Hartford, CT.

Pratt & Whitney Customer Technical Service (CTS) is seeking a Manager with primary responsibility for PW1100G-JM and PW1100G-JM Advantage Hot Section hardware. This CTS Manager will lead a team of CTS hardware engineers to resolve current and emerging customer technical issues and direct the technical communications with airlines and overhaul shops. Our focus is to manage and resolve technical issues for PW1100G-JM hardware to ensure engine safety and to maintain competitive advantage relative to operational parameters such as Delays and Cancellations (D&C's), In-Flight-Shut-Down (IFSD) rate, reduction of maintenance burden, etc. Additionally, the role involves leading the CTS organization in service event oversight and investigation, and process improvement. The position reports to the Associate Director, PW1100G-JM / PW1100G-JM Advantage CTS.

The successful candidate will lead a team of CTS hardware engineers to resolve current and emerging customer technical issues and direct the technical communications with airlines and overhaul shops

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a hybrid team of both direct and indirect CTS hardware engineers of varying experience levels. The team consists of P&W and MTU employees who are responsible for the HPC stages 1-4, Diffuser, Combustor & Turbine Nozzle Group, High Pressure Turbine (HPT) / Turbine Intermediate Case (TIC), Low Pressure Turbine (LPT), and Turbine Exhaust Case (TEC).
  • Recognize team workload levels and strive to achieve and maintain level work loading.
  • Implement process improvements to achieve / exceed EagleNet case metrics associated with on-time delivery of technical case responses for Aircraft on Ground (AOG), urgent MRO engine build delays, and routine issues.
  • Approve release of technical communications, Service Bulletins, and other documents such as Engineering Changes, Engineering Authorizations, and Technical Data Packages.
  • Assist the team with identifying emerging issues and taking action to initiate and assist Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs) with field data required for root cause investigations.
  • Oversee outsourcing activity and support SOW maintenance.
  • Support IPMTs, MIPTs, and ensure team support of applicable SIPTs, SAIPTs, and EDSIT reviews.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the 30K Program Office, Fleet Retrofit Group, Service Engineers, CIPTs, Component Aftermarket Integrated Product Teams (CAIPTs), Aftermarket Chief Engineer, regulatory authorities, Maintenance Data Engineering (MDE), Customer Fleet Team, and program partners to assess, plan and implement technical and logistic fleet management solutions for the NGPF products.
  • Support Safety Risk Assessments and execute field actions assigned by Safety Review Board and IPMT.
  • Support Title 14 CFR 21.3 quarterly FAA reporting and investigation progress.
  • Support engineering aftermarket initiatives.
  • Assist in MRO and on-wing cost and maintenance burden reduction tasks.
  • Support the PW1100G-JM Customer Council Calls, operators' conferences, and (as required) customer calls and Technical Review Meetings (TRMs).
  • Up to 10% travel

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and 7+ years of relevant experience
  • US Citizen due to government contracts

Preferred Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, operations or engineering management, data analytics, or MBA
  • Prior supervision / leadership of a team of professional employees
  • Knowledge of P&W Customer Technical Service procedures
  • Experience with Teamcenter, Geared Turbo Fan engine manuals, and EagleNet
  • Direct knowledge and experience dealing with commercial airline customers
  • Excellent judgment and professional maturity
  • The ability to create positive relationships and craft clear communication
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements
  • Ability to successfully multitask across several types of activities at once in a dynamic environment
