We're hiring a Sr. Mgr. Data Engineering

About this position

The Sr. Manager, Data Engineering, will oversee the development and use of data systems. You can fully grasp the complexity of data management. The Sr. Mgr. Data Engineering will have a strong understanding of databases, database administration, and data analysis procedures. You will also be tech-savvy and possess excellent troubleshooting skills. You will ensure that information flows timely and securely to and from the organization and within.

What you'll do

  • You manage multiple data delivery teams across the portfolio, making sure the teams are delivering to plan, cost, and quality.
  • You support the teams by providing technical guidance and managing dependencies and risks.
  • You provide scope, review & deliver data requirements working closely with stakeholders.
  • You review and ensure the use case, value case, acceptance criteria, definition of done, and KPIs are captured and aligned with the digital and data strategy.
  • You manage and track delivery and KPIs.
  • You provide hands-on data analysis and data management.
  • You ensure optimal end-to-end integration, data flow, and ongoing maintenance ease.
  • You manage & build stakeholder relationships and expectations.
  • You formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure data adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy. • Support others in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to legal and company standards.
  • You monitor and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades, etc.).
  • You ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.
  • You troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modification.
  • You provide after-hour release support, including overnight and weekends, as required.

You Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or related field
  • You have 5-7 years of work experience as a Data Manager or similar role.
  • You're a mentor and coach that holds your team accountable for delivering results.
  • You are a collaborative leader working across different business functions, particularly finance and supply chain.
  • You have worked in a team that leverages agile frameworks such as Kanban, Scrum, etc.
  • You have experience interacting with internal customers and data specialists to collect and prioritize portfolio requirements.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and technical credibility in dealing with end users and data product owners.
  • You are a proven business partner that can build solid relationships with your stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
