The US Security Network Analyst position directly supports all AES Corporate and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards and requirements.

Specifically, this position will work in support of US Security corporate networks and applications to ensure adequate and effective security processes and controls are implemented to meet all AES corporate requirements. The US Security Network Analyst serves as a key point of contact and technical expert for the support of the US Security networks and applications. They will manage all documentation and remediation activities and communicate results to company management.

This position is a NERC regulated position. As such, a background check in the form of a Transport Workers Identification Credential (TWIC), is required for this position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate must have a strong working knowledge of Cisco firewalls and switches. In addition a strong working knowledge of secure networking concepts is required. An understanding of security applications is a definite plus.

The primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage the design, development, and maintenance of network implementations.
  • Develop and implement standards and operating procedures.
  • Maintain proper change management documentation for all hardware and software modifications.
  • Conduct routine hardware and software audits of all supported security devices to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Participation in the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT).

Lead and ensure the fulfillment of team responsibilities including:

  • Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported network assets.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, and actual events.
  • Work with vendors, corporate IT, and other technology groups to resolve any problems.
  • Participate in budgeting and purchasing processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

This position will require excellent problem solving and decision making skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the ability to perform duties effectively under emergency situations. The candidate must possess a competency in the following security related areas:

Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems, network switches, network routers, network design, VPN implementation, TCP/IP communication, writing information security policies, performing network security assessments, patch evaluation, virtual environments, and network analysis.

Strong LAN/WAN infrastructure knowledge, technical writing skills and comprehension of technical manuals preferred.

The candidate must have excellent planning, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills and must have the ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing. The candidate must have the ability to work well with people from varying disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. This position requires a thorough understanding of diverse system and network architectures.

Preferred: An ideal candidate will have experience in the Energy or Utility industry, experience supporting a secure network infrastructure, experience supporting networking systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements. Certification(s) from Cisco preferred
