We're Apogee. Nice to meet you. At our core, we're an IT-services organization that happens to focus on higher education. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Network Security Engineer to join our product development group in Austin, TX. This highly technical, hands-on role will work with cross-functional teams to plan, design, implement and optimize Apogee's next generation network and security infrastructure. You will need a solid background in building and supporting large campus/enterprise networks, and have a creative, problem-solving mindset. We believe this is a tremendous opportunity for someone with the right skills and business acumen to help Apogee build and improve the managed network services for our clients.

The salary range for this position is $120,000-$170,000 depending on experience.

Here is your job:

  • Develop standard processes and procedures for testing, deploying, and servicing network infrastructure at new and existing clients
  • Provide technical training and guidance to other technical groups within Apogee as part of new product launch activities
  • Occasionally provide tier-3 support to other Apogee technical teams to aid in resolving complex network and security outages and service interruptions
  • Maintain technical relationships with leading network infrastructure hardware and software vendors. Evaluate new and upcoming solutions from these vendors for potential inclusion in future products.
  • Develop, maintain, and review standard repositories of network documentation and design specifications

You will love this job if this describes you:

Self-Development: You are personally and professionally committed to continuous improvement. You take a whole approach to learning: books and academics, experience at work, and learning from your peers

Technical Aptitude: Some projects we take on have subtle differences, and others present obstacles we have not faced yet. You can apply your base line of knowledge and natural technical aptitude to help you on easy tasks and challenging issues.

Team: There's lot of room for individual success, but it all starts at the core, a strong team. You demonstrate open, positive communication, listen to others, and encourage group troubleshooting.

High Quality Standards: This is a high impact, highly visible position. You have internal and external clients depending on the quality of work you deliver (never mind the financial impact of low quality). You care about your work and your customers.
