Job Summary:
McKesson Technology (MT) are seeking an experienced Observability Engineer with a strong background in IT Observability. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in IT systems monitoring tools and principles. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining observability solutions to ensure our IT infrastructure’s and applications’ optimal performance, reliability, and scalability. 

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement observability solutions for IT infrastructure & applications, including monitoring, logging, and tracing systems.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and automated reports to provide insights into system performance and health.
• Collaborate with MT Teams to integrate observability tools with existing systems and processes.
• Analyze and troubleshoot performance issues, providing recommendations for improvements.
• Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in IT observability and make recommendations for their adoption.
• Conduct regular reviews of system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and maintain documentation for observability tools and processes.
• Provide training and support to team members on observability best practices and tools.
• Participation in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and maturity

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT systems monitoring and observability.
• Strong knowledge of observability tools such as Dynatrace, Logic Monitor, Thousand Eyes, Grafana, Splunk, AIOps and Log Rocket.
• Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, or PowerShell is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their monitoring tools.
• Solid understanding of networking, server, and application performance metrics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification in relevant observability or cloud technologies.
• Good knowledge of container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
• Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
• Knowledge of automation frameworks

• Knowledge of MELT (Metrics, Events, Logs, and Traces)

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$105,800 - $176,400
