Summary:

Advisor Group seeks a Sr. Operations Data Analyst to help bring data-driven clarity to client-facing operational functions. Responsibilities:
  • Define and continually refine appropriate performance measures for the CCEO functions - including core outcomes, operational processes affecting results, and program performance assessments
  • Oversee development of reporting to monitor operational performance across a broad range of functions and parameters (i.e. Contact Center results / productivity, processing team efficacy, client satisfaction, etc.)
    • Access multiple data sources to capture and synthesize relevant data elements
    • Create and automate reporting capabilities around identified measures
    • Define and implement improved data collection, storage, and access methodologies (systems & processes) to analyze operations & client-impacting activities and streamline Advisor Group's ability to critically monitor performance results
  • Use analytical skills to critically assess operational performance and help guide the team in the crafting and developing improved approaches
    • Identify improvement opportunities and advocate for beneficial enhancements to customer-facing processes and efforts
    • Work with operating and program teams to develop suitable business cases and define program / campaign effectiveness measurement tools / KPIs
    • Particular attention to identifying and exploiting differential characteristics among channels and customer segments leveraging advanced statistical capabilities for correlation and causal analysis
    • Serve as a leader to and liaison for an advanced statistical analysis team
  • Lead operational / demand forecasting and drive those findings into actionable programs
    • Create and maintain sophisticated and flexible operational models, taking those findings and driving them into programs to improve results
    • Lead and coordinate analytic interlock with operational and program owners, leveraging analytical capabilities to assess performance and leading program owners to create more impactful approaches
    • Lead interlock with Finance on planning functions related to operations
    • Ensure analytic team works with operating and program teams to develop suitable business cases and define program effectiveness measurement tools and KPIs
  • Lead analysis of actual operational performance vs. forecasts / expectations
    • Continuous evaluation of operational efficiency identifying deeper, less obvious drivers and related factors
    • Identify variance drivers & root causes with emphasis on identifying weak spots in performance and improvement opportunities
    • Leverage findings to improve and expand operational forecasts
  • Lead cross-functional teams on high priority initiatives to develop solutions and drive implementation
    • Undertake ad-hoc research / analysis projects to uncover key information, distill findings, and make & present compelling cases for changes to business processes, marketing, or resource allocations
    • Gather & analyze data through quantitative and qualitative mechanisms to provide insight for decisions on critical strategic issues
    • Develop a thorough understanding of Advisor Group's Advisors & their firms, their interactions with Advisor Group, and Advisor Group can create more value for them
  • Own operating results communications and analysis
    • Manage recurring Leadership readouts - incorporating current / correct metrics and analyzing results to include meaningful insights around performance and outcomes
    • Partner with CCEO senior leadership team to ensure a common understanding of results and obtain clear views into operating drivers and important events / actions
    • Post metrics to online data distribution tools (Power BI, SharePoint, etc.)
  • The nature of the role will be dynamic and the selected candidate will need to bring a keen intellect to bear on a wide variety of problems (and the specific problems may vary widely over time)
  • Leverage analytical and technical skills to develop more junior team members
  • All other duties as assigned


Education Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field of study


Basic Requirements:
  • 4 - 6+ years' experience in analytic roles producing actionable intelligence from raw data
  • Demonstrated advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficient with BI toolsets - SQL-Based GUI tools, Power BI, PowerPivot, etc.
  • Experience using SQL Server and/or Oracle data repositories
  • Knowledge of statistical analytical methods - regression models, CHAID, data mining techniques, etc
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a strategic perspective
  • Excellent proven analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Capacity to frame and break down complex business problems into key components and recommend practical solutions to drive results
    • Ability to anticipate emerging business needs to build an ever-increasing understanding of the true factors driving client behavior and perception
  • Understanding of relational database concepts, technical ability to access data, organize it, and develop meaningful insights
    • Competent usage of database systems / BI tools (SQL, Business Objects, PowerPivot / Power BI, etc.)
    • Ability to creatively source data and work through multiple channels to secure results
    • Ability to learn new tools quickly and adapt to changing needs and deliverables
  • High competency with standard office software
    • Efficiency w/ MS Office tools to create documents and presentations
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication / presentation skills required
    • Ability to confidently deliver information to senior leadership team and other large audiences
    • The ability to interact comfortably and persuasively with senior executives including presentation, influence, and facilitation skills
    • Negotiation, leadership and persuasion skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced team environment where change is constant and timelines are often short
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to manage bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance business needs against technical constraints


Preferred Requirements:
  • Advanced SQL coding / querying ability
  • Experience modelling with Power Pivot / Power BI - Strong DAX knowledge and complex model creation
  • Experience performing analysis on client-facing operational functions
