Sr. Principal, Scrum Master - Front Office Solutions

Agile Scrum Master:
Northern Trust's Front Office Solutions is an integrated digital and service platform that enables investment offices to view data across their whole portfolio, with timely, accurate and consolidated views of both public and private market data. Designed for the modern asset owner with multi-asset class portfolios, Front Office Solutions serves foundations, endowments, pension funds, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, and other complex organizations.
As we continue to drive a lean ecosystem to bring value across every part of our delivery model, we are seeking a Scrum Manager. This is to allow us to build higher performing teams and improve coordination between the teams. This role will assist with the team's ability to plan deliverables, monitor performance against the targeted deliverables and resolve any blockers that could hinder the teams' work.
The candidate for this role would have a strong understanding of agile and work-in-progress models, ability to connect the dots across many competing needs, familiarity with the institutional clients that we serve, and seek to measure and increase our business outcome of performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily stand-ups for all workstreams and facilitate discussions
- Elicit statuses and provide environment for full transparency
- Track roadblocks and dependencies, identify who is responsible and accountable, track to completion.
- Facilitate discussion between feature workstream and technology teams directly responsible for workstream.
- Observe story refinement to ensure that each participant is fully prepared and participating.
- For each action item owners are identified
- Ensure User Stories are up to standard
- Own and maintain Definition of Ready and Definition of Done and ensure all participants abide
- Organize/facilitate goal setting and goal demonstrations
- Ensure the team is in alignment on the scope of the goal and timeline
- Lead retrospectives, synthesize content to stakeholders, and track completion areas of improvement.
- Perform analysis over the progress of development to determine if the pace is reasonable, or if any lack of progress needs to be addressed
- Incorporate a framework for working with the design team and identifying when there are needs for back-end tooling
- Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders and provide feedback on what is needed to resolve any key issues and identified blockers
- Responsible for building strong, high performing teams through identifying and implementing possible improvements
- Coach leaders and teams in Agile Methodology practices and mindsets
- Continually inspect the process, discover and address major concerns
Knowledge / Experience
This individual will display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with technology and the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
- Experience in a scrum master role
- Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, retrospectives, backlog refinement, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Scrum and other Agile frameworks (KanBan, CICD etc.)
- Adapts practices to meet rapidly changing business climates and needs
- Establishing, developing and maintaining working relationships with leadership and partners, locally and globally.
- Organizational and analytical skills
- Negotiation and leadership skills
- Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
- Proven track record of exceptional ambition, drive, and proven results

Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
- Finance/Accounting background
- Experience in an agile organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Fintech experience
- Working knowledge of development management tools such as JIRA and Azure Dev Ops
- Technical background and experience with APIs
- Certified Scrum Master
