What you'll do
As a proficient Software Architect, your daily responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the current software landscape, identifying gaps and determining both functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications. Your role involves using various tools and methodologies to design representations for functions and user interfaces of desired products. You will also lead and adhere to industry-standard architecture review processes, ensuring alignment with broader architectural standards. A key part of your role is to establish a continuous improvement framework for refining software product delivery, with a focus on efficiency from software design to system architecture, including aspects like microservices.
This position is an individual contributor role reporting to VP, Cloud Engineering & Technical Operations.
Responsibility
- Define the vision for observability and availability engineering, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align on goals and priorities, and driving the implementation of best practices for monitoring and reliability
- Implement transaction monitoring for critical services, monitoring real-time transaction flows and detecting anomalies, collaborating with operations teams for seamless availability and investigating
- Resolve incidents related to transactional systems, driving monitoring of reliability and performance of all internal systems, and identifying areas for improvement and suggesting enhancements
- Oversee all aspects of technical incident response from initiation to resolution, assessing the nature of incidents, determining necessary resources, and leading efforts to contain and resolve the situation
- Facilitate communication with team members, stakeholders, customers, and others through conference calls and documenting all activities during incidents following established methodologies
- Conduct root cause analysis for each incident, defining follow-up action items, and making recommendations to stakeholders
- Stay informed about current threats and vulnerabilities, and continuously improving the incident response process
- Architect and design scalable monitoring infrastructure, developing and maintaining monitoring tools, dashboards, and alerting systems, collaborating with infrastructure teams for integration, and ensuring high availability and low latency
- Nurture a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture, hire and train engineers, and provide technical guidance and mentorship
Job Designation
Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring
Basic
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or a relevant field
- 15+ years of experience with a deep understanding of various coding and programming languages
- 10+ years of experience in Database Design and Data Modeling
- Experience in leading and managing teams
Preferred
- Experience with AWS or Azure
- Proficiency in cloud services and infrastructure
- Expertise in AWS offerings like EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS
- Experience in setting up load balancers, VPCs, and security groups
Wage Transparency
Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:
California: $251,100.00 - $393,500.00 base salary
Illinois and Colorado: $233,900.00 - $330,425.00 base salary
Washington and New York (including NYC metro area): $233,900.00 - $354,675.00 base salary
This role is also eligible for bonus, equity and benefits.
