Job Description

At Databricks, our mission as designers is to make data science simpler and more accessible so that more people can help solve the world's toughest problems. Product Designers at Databricks balance the creativity of a craftsperson with the curiosity of a data scientist. We believe in the traditional and timeless value of great design - while at the same time, we have a restless desire to get to the truth and make the best decisions possible using data. We design products that delight a technical audience.

The impact you will have:

  • Design best-in-class onboarding experience to help users succeed with Databricks
  • Establish an iterative process where results are always measurable
  • Understand Databricks goals, users, market opportunities, and competition
  • Become well-versed on the Databricks product and its personas (data engineers, data scientists, data analysts and administrators)
  • Help design a top-notch partner integration product, where partners' products work seamlessly with the Databricks Lakehouse ecosystem
  • Seek and provide design feedback and collaboratively improve the design process

What we look for:

  • You have a diverse product design skillset to create experiences that delight a very technical audience
  • You are capable of working cross functionally with product, engineering, marketing, docs and customer success
  • You don't shy away from business metrics, customer conversations or a debate with the engineering team
  • You inform your design practice with research to understand customer goals and validate product assumptions
  • A system thinker with the tactical ability to break projects down so that engineering build incrementally
  • Minimum 5 years of product design work experience
  • Experience shipping great digital products. We strongly believe that a designer' involvement never stops. You are comfortable overseeing and impacting the entire process from idea to general availability.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent, with specialization in HCI, Interaction Design, graphic design, computer science, or related disciplines
  • A portfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process
  • Bonus: experience designing products in the Big Data space

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Equity awards
  • Flexible time off
  • Paid parental leave
  • Family Planning
  • Gym reimbursement
  • Annual personal development fund
  • Work headphones reimbursement
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Business travel accident insurance
