Where You Come In:

We are currently seeking a Sr. Product Development Engineer to join our growing team! As a Sr. Product Development Engineer on the KCF Team, you'll have the opportunity to work on a collaborative team of engineers in one of the most exciting fields in technology! This role is an in-person role at our Hardware facility in downtown State College, PA. KCF Technologies remains flexible and autonomous with our work locations, so this role certainly has some flexibility, but we are actively seeking someone who can work in-person on a regular basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively participate as a member of the hardware development team 
  • Identify opportunities to develop new and innovative solutions, develop Proof of Concepts (Design, Prototype, Testing) and provide recommendations to the company at large on next generation product ideas
  • Assess potential product’s mechanical, electrical, and physical attributes to ensure that the product meets customer expectations, management expectations, and industry standards in terms of functionality, physical appearance, and environmental concerns.
  • Work with KCF Technical Product Owners to understand our customer base, their problems, the relative value propositions of those problems, and possess the ability to formulate scalable solutions to those problems
  • Research market trends and competitor solutions to identify gaps, vulnerabilities, and opportunities to initiate innovative product development and expand share of market
  • Tackles larger scale projects by aligning leadership on goals, identifying, and mitigating risks, researching alternate technologies, designing a solution, leading its implementation, and equipping the rest of the organization to incorporate and benefit from the results
  • Ensure tight communication with chief architect, software, analytics, and hardware leads to formulate technical solution to the business problems
  • Participate in the research, development, and design of a variety of projects.
  • Serve as a lead technical role on project team(s). Collaborate closely with fellow Engineers, Customers, Sales and Manufacturing regarding New Product Development
  • Collaborates across engineering teams, and helps team members make informed decisions in alignment with the company/department strategic plans
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of issues on existing, fielded KCF Hardware
  • Anticipate and address technical and organizational obstacles affecting own team and teams within the domain platform
  • Build relationships with key members across all organizational levels of KCF
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and other KCF leadership staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably – Electrical, Mechanical, Software
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Able to work regularly in-person in State College, PA
  • Proven work experience in product development
  • Problem-solving skills: ability to identify and diagnose problems
  • Demonstrates capable written communication, verbal communication, and decision-making skills
  • Have consistently communicated trade-offs throughout a project to meet both technical and business requirements
