Job Title: Sr. Product Line Manager

Introduction:

The senior portfolio manager has overall responsibility within TGCS for the software or hardware portfolio business plan-this includes proposing an establishing strategic direction, product requirements, target market definition, gathering of market research & insight, financial modeling & evaluation, bi-directional advocacy and coordination between regional and global portfolio & development teams, and equipping regional sales/services teams with the necessary tools to win in the market. This includes P&L ownership, solution vision & strategy, and cross-functional leadership within Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions to drive results.

The Sr. Product line Manager will engage on the launch of new releases; build and execute go-to-market plans; recommend and execute strategic partnerships; collaborate with engineering and marketing teams within TGCS; help build relationships with strategic global customers; and deliver thought leadership in engagements with press & analysts - all with compelling messaging and value props that redefine how retail companies engage with their customers and optimize and connect their operations. TGCS Product Managers play a key role in landing the retail strategy and work closely with the TGCS leadership team to expand the market opportunity and scale of the business. This individual will deliver results through their knowledge of the retail industry, our strategy, and the competitive global landscape.

Responsibilities:

  1. Portfolio Strategy -

    1. Formulate Solution strategy including key levers to positively achieve results; synchronize solution strategy with broader TGCS SW, HW, and overall business strategy, working with global portfolio/strategy functions (combined with local teams) to assess and prioritize markets & portfolio offerings.
    2. Drive competitive analysis and compete strategies against established players and new threats. Engage on the launch of new releases.
    3. Own market definition, sizing, and segmentation
    4. Drive voice-of-the-customer and market research/analysis to understand the needs of customers in the target markets/segments

  2. Portfolio Development -

    1. Build and execute go-to-market plans. Develop solution go-to-market plans including opportunity analysis, pipeline analysis, market segmentation, channel readiness (where applicable) requirements, and outbound marketing requirements.
    2. Define product requirements aligned to the portfolio strategy, managing the process by which these requirements are captured, assessed, prioritized, and directed to the appropriate global and/or regional development teams
    3. Develop solution pricing/licensing approach and map against customer requirements with an understanding of competitive/other factors impacting deal closure. Prioritize requirements based on value to customers, pervasiveness in the target market, urgency, and willingness to pay

  3. Lead the global portfolio/development/services teams to translate business requirements into solution delivery plans and services/support offerings. Engage with product development and services program managers to drive solution roadmaps, providing business requirements in terms of functionality, costs, and solution interdependencies. Collaborate with product development to create and expand portfolio of products and solution alternatives.
  4. Engage with marketing and sales teams to develop product positioning, launch plans, and routes to market including channel readiness. Collaborate with marketing teams to understand targeted markets, market trends and competitive environments. Develop value propositions, messaging frameworks, and statements of direction. Develop the offering frameworks for global and localized pricing strategies. Equip sales & services teams with the necessary tools to sell global and regional solutions.
  5. Manage and track progress against financial targets, including continuous risk assessment and mitigation. Build and manage P&L model for the assigned product portfolio, including the gathering/vetting of inputs and feeding into product P&L's. Conduct win/loss reviews.
  6. Present at the quarterly portfolio review (QPR) to assess & optimize portfolio performance. Collaborates with various internal "customers" and departments on solution fit, features, go-to-market strategy, positioning, etc., to ensure end-user customers & company requirements are represented with a broad perspective and likelihood of field success. Coordinate across functional areas to achieve overall business results, including marketing, sales, services, maintenance, and finance
  7. Help build relationships with strategic global customers. Support executive briefings and provide direct client-facing sales support for high-impact, qualified opportunities. Support execution of strategic partnerships, customer engagements, and drive new business growth. Speak at customer briefings, conferences & events, and assist selectively with strategic sales efforts.
  8. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination
  • Dynamic, articulate, energetic and self-starter personality with demonstrated ability to translate industry and customer insight into executable strategic vision
  • Proven results-driven individual with good business acumen; ability to manage forecasts, costs, and budgets to meetstrategic objectives for the business
  • Solid understanding of hardware and how businesses can sell hardware
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Experience understanding the go-to market surrounding hardware
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills in both client-facing and internal situations; can articulate industry and operational insights clearly and persuasively to all levels of executives and management, translating information to audience-appropriate levels using oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated skills in analysis of market requirements; ability to map business requirements to solution roadmaps, with strong domain knowledge in the retail industry including competitive solutions, complementary solutions, consumer trends (omni-channel, mobility, social, etc.) and a deep understanding of retailer business needs
  • Creative, entrepreneurial thinker who can manage risks, try new approaches, and use good judgment to build and grow the business
  • Exceptional team player with proven ability to drive solutions from concept to delivery by coordinating across functional areas to plan, deliver, market, sell, and support retail industry solutions (cross-functional team leadership - current people good at explaining what is happening not making strong grounded recommendation)


Preferred Skills:

  • MBA or equivalent experience
