Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Sr. Program Manager to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of the next generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries.  Solid Power is a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative team environment. The Senior Program Manager will act as the central resource and driving force for the planning and implementation of the pilot scale plant expansion and the new mass production plant from conception to launch. This is a critical position that will be essential to making Solid Power’s commercialization plan a success.

Job Duties:

  • Full responsibility for the planning and implementation of technical capital projects including management of scope, budget and schedule.
  • Manage the full-service EPC contractor relationship critical to achieving project objectives.
  • Reviewing engineering documents, vendor submittals, fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, good engineering practice, and project objectives. 
  • Lead internal Equipment Engineering, Process Engineering, Facilities & EHS teams to ensure the cross functional team is fully integrated for project success.
  • Drive full integration of project team to develop deliverables and evaluation of alternatives to balance cost effectiveness, schedule adherence and scope attainment in the most efficient way.
  • Assessing the performance of the internal and contractor project team members through the course of the project and working with resource leadership to organize a qualified and motivated project team.
  • Responsible for the regular project monitoring on major schedule, cost, EHS and regulatory, and start-up and commissioning issues.
  • Regularly interact across functional areas with senior management to ensure project objectives are met.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • 5+ years of experience leading capital projects, preferably $25M+.
  • Pilot plant scale-up or capital expansion experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or high technology industries highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with high hazard chemical processes, safety mitigation strategies and regulations, and environmental considerations.
  • Experience working with full-service design and construction contractors.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated cross functional team leadership and consensus building skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of organization including C-level executives and technical staff.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence thinking / gain acceptance of others at all levels of an organization and in sensitive situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of phase gate methodology preferred.
  • Rapid learner who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, SAP & PM Software.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $152,000 annually plus eligibility to participate in our equity incentive and bonus plans.
