Job Summary

Will work directly with the Director of Engineering and Engineering Managers to investigate, scope, design, and implement Capital Projects with the goal of increasing factory output, implementing new process technologies and automation, new processes and facilities to run new products, factory expansions, and new facilities. In addition to these new and strategic initiatives, person will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing improvements to manufacturing equipment in support of existing products and processes as directed. Activities will maintain proper functionality and manage cost efficiencies. Primarily focused on process elements of material flow and movement, automation, equipment, and control systems.

Important Responsibilities
  • Utilize professional project management techniques and tools to most effectively manage engineering projects to deliver the results promised, on schedule and on budget


  • Scope, manage, and implement capital projects to modify or add equipment in process lines or facilities
  • Assessing the overall manufacturability of new designs including measuring efficiency and cost
  • Evaluate new manufacturing space and create factory equipment layouts
  • Identify and/or develop new technology as required to support the ongoing growth of the company
  • Developing requirements and specifications for new equipment to improve productivity
  • Conduct machine trials and pilots of new components, products, and technologies
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes to identify and implement changes to reduce cost or increase output
  • Coordinate project implementation with the production schedule and internal and external resources
  • Maintain current project status, including milestones, spending, issues, etc. and report out to Director of Engineering and others as required
  • Work with Operations and Facilities in developing recommendations for the need for capital equipment, improvements, and tooling, etc.
  • Provide input to the development of the annual capital plan and the 5-year planning process
  • Support ad-hoc equipment and/or facility projects as directed


Requirements

Viable Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong Project Management Experience; PMP a plus
  • Experience with engineering or construction projects is required
  • Demonstrated skill with Gantt charting software, MS Project is preferred but others will be considered
  • Contract creation and execution, and contractor management is a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Effective communicator at all levels; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Lean, 6 Sigma skills with continuous improvement experience


  • Experience and use of CAD software is required

Education/Experience required:

  • Bachelors' degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of Capital Project implementation

  • High level of organizational ability
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coordinate with other departments within the Company
  • Ability to lead and manage Contract resources and Company resources for projects
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without close supervision

  • Project Management and Implementation
  • Lean Manufacturing
  • Manufacturing with assembly line and packaging experience
  • Automation and robotics
  • Candle industry experience
