The Sr. Project Engineer, Operations Strategy will direct and coordinate activities for key strategic initiatives aligned with the embecta global manufacturing objectives and growth targets. Candidates must have experience running large scale manufacturing architecture projects. The ideal candidate for this role will be well versed in project and program management, supply chain and manufacturing plant operations, and have a strong business acumen. Preference for this person to live in the East coast but open to being fully remote.

The scope of the role encompasses, but is not limited to:

  • Identify, define, and plan for the most essential operational opportunities and challenges in the business
  • Effectively leverage data to propose solutions, track program key performance indicators and insights
  • Build and manage program/project governance throughout the lifecycle of implementation
  • Understand dependencies between projects and critical paths to support flexible business objectives
  • Create shared goals cross-functionally and enable resourcing to drive the project/program progress
  • Foster a culture of open/honest communication, transparency, and accountability
  • Communicate with stakeholders and senior leadership to demonstrate progress and drive decisions
  • Build strategic relationships with global cross-functional partners

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the management of highly complex manufacturing operations infrastructure and capacity expansion projects, including project status reporting.
  • Develop deep partnerships with Operations and Engineering leadership to deliver innovative results from project conception to in-plant execution.
  • Perform all project management activities, including the following functions: develop project timelines and drive cross functional teams to meet key milestone dates and deliverables. Create detailed execution plans, with clearly identified risks, dependencies, and mitigation levers.
  • Facilitate coordination and decision making across a diverse set of cross functional stakeholders including supply chain, operations, procurement, commercial, marketing, quality, R&D, and outside vendor partners.
  • Deliver accurate project health and status reporting; ensure quality of materials to be presented to Senior Leadership. Synthesize complex information and data for senior level communication and decision making.
  • Facilitate seamless communication to appropriate stakeholders to ensure awareness of details that may affect their areas.
  • Directly communicate with Senior Leaders and team leaders as required to successfully launch and gain alignment on highly complex projects.
  • Help develop best-in-class project management processes, objectives, strategies, standards, and policies within a new area of the organization.
  • Propose process optimizations to increase efficiency, drive transparency and visibility, and cultivate adoption of new process discipline. Ensure standards and processes are followed.
  • Ensure seamless project execution to delivery, with early identification of risks and issues.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, as required domestically and internationally.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Power Point) - ability to work across all functions and levels in the organization and regions; effectively manage and work with a virtual team; ability to influence without direct control.
  • Comfortable with shifting priorities, styles, and work environments in an exciting, evolving role. Ability to deal with ambiguity and function effectively under pressure.
  • Manufacturing or engineering based project management skills and knowledge. Possess a continuous improvement mindset with Lean Six Sigma application.
  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures used in the manufacture and quality control of medical devices.
  • Resolving personal/team conflicts and functional conflicts.
  • Good command of written and verbal English language.
  • Highest levels of personal and professional integrity.

Basic Requirements:

  • 10+ years' experience as a project or program manager.
  • 10+ years of Infrastructure or Plant Operations Project Management.
  • Candidates must have experience running large scale manufacturing architecture projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or science related field - manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented capabilities as contributor and team leader.
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors and suppliers.

Preferred Requirements:

  • An MBA is preferred
